I suggest spend some time at your local driving range. You'll see people there with similar skills than you, so walk over, introduce and start chatting.... just not on his or her backswing Also chat to the local pro there... he/she can also put you in touch with other players looking for the same

Maybe have a few rounds here if you're not comfortable yet to venture out on a proper course
