Not that there's much interest here, but the Open is halfway and a few SA players in with a chance.

Yip. Whenever Woods is "in contention" going into the final round, you can bet your bottom dollar that he is likely to take it. Its been a pretty low scoring tournament for Torey Pines. I am really glad to see Ernie finding some form again.

13 times, he can play a bit...

History strongly suggests Tiger Woods will seal his 14th major victory at the US Open on Sunday, regardless of the stabbing pain he has felt in his left knee at Torrey Pines over the last three days.
The American world number one goes into the final round one stroke clear, having triumphed 13 times out of 13 in majors when holding at least a share of the lead after 54 holes.

Woods clawed his way to the top of the leaderboard with a brilliant display of shot-making and long-range putting, despite hitting only six fairways out of 14.

A stunning birdie-eagle finish in late afternoon sunshine gave him a one-under-par 70 and a three-under total of 210 in his first tournament back since the Masters in mid-April.

Tight playoff... Woods should take it, but not much in it (Woods one ahead after 13)

And he just chanked the chip. I am rooting for Mediate on this one. I hope he takes it. This hasnt been Woods' best round but I respect what he has been able to do considering the operation he just had.

All square after 14...going down to the wire. Maybe Tiger's meds arwe wearing off;)

Rocco 1 shot up with 2 to play.

So the playoff will be won with a playoff sudden death then...

He did it again! Well done Tiger Woods. Again... and again... and again.

He played the last hole as though the pressure got to him, almost as though he thought he couldn't win :(
Agree - I was impressed that he made the putt on the 18th - thought he would mess it up there because of pressure. Woods is a tough competitor!

Woods can still kick butt with a busted knee. That places him a league above anyone else that has played the game.

He is already the greatest player to have ever played the game. The record he is chasing of Jack Niklaus' 18 majors is a mere technicality. Golf back then wasn't what golf is today. The competition today is much fiercer and the demands far greater. To be the number one ranked for 500 weeks (almost 10 years - 500/52) is superhuman in my book.

Woods is the best golfer of all time IMO. And he will continue to be No.1 for a very long time.

What disappoints me though is Ernie and Retief appear to have given up or dont seem to actually care anymore. I know Ernie has been working on his game but he doesnt appear to take it very seriously anymore.

Ernie started recieving counseling after Woods showed up and started beating him.
I'm not making this up...

Retief, doesn't worry too much about him.

Trevor isn't too worried about him either.

Tiger Woods out for 2008
18/06/2008 17:57 - (SA)

San Diego - Tiger Woods will miss the rest of the golf season because of a left knee that will require more surgery, a person with knowledge of the decision said Wednesday.

Woods had surgery to clean out cartilage on April 15, but later suffered a stress fracture while preparing for his return to golf _ causing him pain during the US Open, which he won in a 19-hole playoff Monday over Rocco Mediate.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement had yet to be made. Woods was expected to discuss his future on his website later on Wednesday.

Woods was last seen in public late on Monday afternoon following the US Open walking with a pronounced limp across Torrey Pines Golf Course toward the parking lot.

Woods played only seven times worldwide this year and won seven of them.

He will miss a major championship for the first time in his career and will not be available for the Ryder Cup in September.

That will make Retief look a bit foolish after his comments he didn't believe Tiger was injured
