Golf V GTi drivers

They just need to fix the bloody mechanical side but then again it wont be an alfa. Lovely cars but not something you recommend a friend to buy.

I agree the servicing may be a tad high. But then again, compared to other cars nowadays, Im not too sure.
Is mechanical still an issue with Alfa?? I dont think so imo. They didnt do themselves any favours with the Selespeed and their shocking parts & service capabilities in the past, but I don't know of many Alfa drivers (Im Italian so I know quite a few hehe) who have experienced major problems. I think Alfa SA has not done enough to remove the "stigma?"

I have a 5 year 100k plan, so Im :D . My wife misses my GTI and now wants one herself, but trying to convince her to take the 159 and I get a 147 GTA or GT 3.2..... YUMMMM

Now youre talking brute power mate!!!

Plus the 147 GTA's are cheap now...but watch out for ones that were raped!

Checked out a 156 GTA for sale, lol, the dealer had the Tarlton 1/4 mile slips in the cubby hole...what a ****!

I was at the dealer to check a trade in price and book value of my car and then I was blown away by the Scirroco. I could simply not choose a GTi over a Scirroco and I'm trying to figure out why VW would make another hatch for the same price that looks so much better and is quicker stock. GTi is supposed to be their poster boy hatch.

I agree!!
I also think the Roc is better than the MK6!

Last weekend we had a look at the engine codes and just the overall look of the engines... the 2.0Tsi Jetta, 2.0T Roc and MK6 Gti all have the same engine code and they look the same... part for part hose for hose... I really think its all the same engine... CWA code or something!

If thats the case, I choose the Scirroco!!:)

ahahaha.. not the best way to move a car! Yeah some have been drilled, then again.. most performance cars have

I missed out on a black 147 GTA for R160k with 80k on the clock! That was a sad day...

I really think VW F'd up with the G6 GTI...seriously

I find many young people drive the G6 GTI and they almost beg you to look at them driving a G6GTI...how lame...IMHO - the Scirroco should have been the new GTI, completely new.

Never driven in one or sat in one, looked at it, and I'd swear ol' Pininfarina got out of the grave and gave his Italian stamp of approval...that's a seriously nice car...but is it just me, or is VW trying really hard to enter a premium car price, over 300k for these cars man nah... But then again look at the overpriced crappy 1 series B Ems...lol

Scirroco FTW!

dude in my Alfa Club bought one from Cape Town last month...147 GTA, R140 000 - 40 000kms on the clock...and ja, it was black!

My S2000 has been raped silly - but its well looked after :) I don't think a performance car suffers much if its looked after...

Xrapidx I agree with you there!!! Nice car you have there, true sports car!

if you don't mind me asking, how much do they go for nowadays, I always look at G5 GTI's and the price and call up 5 better cars the driver could have bought...like an S2000 or a Scoobie, but that's just me...shoo, I'm attacking the poor G5 drivers hectic today, sorry guys!

G5 GTI is still probably one of the best cars! Wish I could afford both my Alfa and GTI :(

2000's go for around R150,000-R160,000.

2004 just below R190,000.

2005 R200,000

and upwards.

I'm actually looking for a black 2005 at the moment, after 2005 is drive by wire, which I'm not to keen on.

So wait...their actually cheaper than a G5 GTI??? OMG!

now there's a bloody good car!

I don't disagree that the G5GTI is a bad car, like I said, as soon as I my uncle said, Lance, take it for a spin...Frieling fettled...man oh man...i like them, but the fact that its so follop is nausiating...i guess its success is also its downfall for me!

So its Bye Bye to my GTi, heres last 2 shots of the car i took last week.
I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I did *sigh*

catch always felt you had the best looking GTi around hands down! ... what did you sell the car for in the end?

ta man ... well you not going to believe this but I had to sell it for a Chrysler GV (:o) . Its the only car that allows to use all 7 seats and still has a big enough boot for luggage etc. Value added is the HID's ( compulsary for all my vehicles) DVD system as well as navigation. I even bought a Prado but realised its none the better than my Verso.

Well, bottom line is I need some patience and wait 5 years for my kids to grow up then i can get back into buying 'sporty' cars.

that is why im not tied up in a "contract" and am on "prepaid" ... :) haha

the day i tire of cars is the day i decide to get married :)

fast cars are an itch that is difficult to get rid of ... gonna be hard mate ... like they say in Afrikaans "sterkte"! :)

oh theres nothing wrong with a grand voyager ;) which one did you buy ???

No its a VERY NICE car ! I actually like it alot, never buy it as yet but going for the 3.8L Petrol Limited with DVD and a few other extra's. My family will love this vehicle as it is very comfortable. Its all about the space, and nothing beats it :)

we still have the old model, 2006, with the diesel engine. we had the 3.3 v6 before it. the only problem with those cars are, that they are soooo slow. but the space is superb. the stow and go system is awesome!!!
