Golf V GTi drivers

if i had that lind of Cash id rather get an audi s3.now theres a great car that not every tom dick and harry drives.

do you think The S3 costs the same as the GTi ? GTi costs R250k without extra's and the S3 starts at around R343k without extra's. Thats a whole
R93k difference.
I even saw a 2.0 Model with GTI mags and the GTI honeycomb grill on wednesday...aynt that a bitch:)

You see, people like you ( no offence) dont know the finer details between the high end models and lower end. It doesnt just take the wheels and grill to make a 2.0L look like a GTi.

Thats because theres not that many Tazzes on the roads since the introduction of KIA and DAEWOO etc.
Ok then let me rephrase:
These days I probably see more GTIs than <insert common car for the masses here>! :p

Don't get me wrong, they're excellent cars. I'm a big VW fan, but it's not something that I would buy (I'd probably go for an Audi 2.0T) with it being so common, and not to mention that it's approaching the end of it's life cycle.

I know the s3 costs more but if your rich then 90 odd K wont be an issue for you dude.
And people like me(No offence taken) knows it takes more than a grill(Bumber) and mags to get a GTI look, i was merely pointing out that you get guys driving around in GTI look-alikes.

yeah i get waht you saying, but if you take the 2.0L for example, to make it look like a GTi you need to change the front bumper, to get the grill to fit. then you need to add the side skirts, and also do the rear valence.
then it comes down to suspension, needs to be lowered. If they not going to do all this, then the car will never look like a GTi. But the 'layman' will hardly see the difference.

oh boy here we go again, Mr knowitall VW FAN goes and listens to a DEALER. lmfao !

My car has the BWA engine and a tech (Anil ) @ VW hatfield confirmed that i do indeed have the KO4 turbo fitted.

My car dyno'd 175.6kw at the fly with Preggie @ FRC.

*g* knowitall VW FAN just doesnt know his VW's AT ALL.

Lol ok then....

But theres some truth in what you guys claim........

The new Car magazine has the Seat 132kw in the Brat Pack test and guess what the dyno reading showed? The 132kw is actually pushing 160kw!!!!!!!! I read the article back to front to see if they mentioned a reason, but nope they didnt...
Im writing to Car magazine to find out if their graph is correct.

So theres alot of evidence showing the new claimed figures....
VW should say something about it.

Will my Polo GTi 2008 model have a KO4 turbo? How would I know .... o wise VW one...:p

all depends on the models in Europe.

The MKV GTI comes in Edition 30 ( Europe only). Edition 30 models have the Votex kit ( like what i got on my car, see you learning something now ) and the detuned engine with S3 Turbo.

So VW Fan, i was right, you really dont know much at all concerning the MKV GTi's.

Suspension: Koni FSD 's + H&R Sports
motor : well i was lucky to get mines fitted with the K04 turbo so no need to chip although im really wanting to ....

Which BBS wheels you looking at ? CH ? I know a guy who has/had a new set of CK wheels for around R15k (Brand New), if you interested, i'll enquire.

Not sure if you post/browse on Vortex, but you can get alot of ideas.

15K.. not bad at all... ill contact you via pm soon...
Have been looking around for ideas ...
i have browsed the vortex forums...
some nice rides there....

Okay read the 1St two pages and just want to know...is this thread for people who actually DRIVE GTI's?
Seems its more a case of people who like TALKING about GTI's.

Driving and talking... anything GTI :)

I got my hands on my friends GTi DSG this past weekend and I have to say I fell in love with the DSG box. But anyways I could see why you lot love the cars so much ;)

But I would still take an ST :D

i might have said this before... but the reason its a 'common' car, is because the masses know its a great car... and before you say that you want to drive a car that turn heads, my GTI still turn heads... not that i want the attention or anything.... thats not the reason to buy a nice car anyways...

The demand for the car is still high... so rather than calling them 'common'...
maybe you should call them popular....

I see alot of BMW's , mini coopers, Polo's around... does that mean i shouldnt buy one?

Everyones entitled to their opinion i guess :)

Ok so im not one to care about editions etc.
Why doesnt VW publicise the increased power? (dont say that R32 nonsense).

What about the Seat 132kw, why is it also have extra power?

So your standard 147kw is pushing 175.6kw?

If you dont care about the different 'editions' in the GTi range then why comment when you dont know anything ?

To your other 2 questions, i DO NOT CARE therfore i will not 'act' like i know the answers.

Do all BWA spec cars have the KO4 Turbo fitted in...?
Mine is a BWA spec...but i havent had a chance to get it dyno'd...

Ok so i've finally decided to make the move over to VW from BMW....so yesterday i applied for finance for a brand new GTI (Got a nice discount too) :D

Anyways, without sounding like a total n00b, i have the following questions:

1. What mods can be done to the car without affecting my warranty?

2. What is a Forge CAI and how much will it set me back? Also, what are the gains with this?

3. Who can i take my car to in durban to have these mods done?

4. Does the Ipod preperation work with Iphone/Ipod touch?

EDIT: Will this car be running at 166kw stock?
Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks :D

If you want 166kw stock, get an ST :D

Ford should be paying me for this.:p

The GTi comes with 147kw stock.

Well according to this forum, and many other ones, it doesn't run at 147kw...it runs a bit more. So i just want to confirm this
