Dude go back and read my posts. I was trying to assist. I was just irritated with Catch21 claiming the GTI V's come with K04 from the factory. But I'll leave it at that and accept that he has the only K04 from the factory in SA.
As for the tyres, IMHO theres nothing wrong with Toyo's. I had them on my GTI IV and they were excellent in the wet and dry.

Thanks for the input, I am currently shopping for pricing, I think Bridgestones are the way to go as haven't had a bad comment but they are the most expensive (excluding Pirelli which is off the list)... Pilot Sport 2 is the best price for the big names - what Toyo's did you have? Good traction?I am not really worried about mileage... more traction. I must chat to Minty's...

HEHE, I have a heavy foot under braking and acceleration... But I don't run my tyres all the way to semi slick as well. I guess I have another 5K on them .... but I would rather change

Just haven't had good comments for them... heard they rather noisy and hard. I did get a quote and they are R1000 cheaper than the cheapest tyre (Michelin pilot 2) which is not too bad. They are rated No.2 after Michelin though.... so Michelin seems to be the logical choice... but I still them Bridgestone RE050A is what I desire as they are the chosen tyre for the GTI firstly and secondly Bridgestone have a good reputation

Turenza's?? Is that the RE050A? I need 18" and got a price of R3350 per tyre fitted with nitrogen etc etc which is not the cheapest, but then again who looks for cheap tyres in a GTI?! HEHE
Not sure. Got them on my BM. Check them out, they are brilliant tyres. Im on my second set now.
Michellin is a good tyre, but its very soft and doesnt give good mileage. The Toyo T1R is a very good tyre and was a lot better than the conti's that came with the car in terms of traction.
If you change from the Potenza's be sure that the new tyres have the same ratings as the old, or else you might have problems with your insurance, should you make a claim.

Perhaps I should give them a try, R7400 for Toyo T1R vs R13400 for Bridgestone RE050A is a big difference. Im a brand name person especially with tyres, Bridgestone and Michelin are proven on track... Toyo I dont much about so thats what makes me nervous especially if its so much cheaper....

Hve you tried the Toyo's? Which ones? I have two options... CT01 and T1R's...
Yoko is an option as well... but they neither well priced or well positioned in the market as far as brand name. The Michelin is a better logical choice for neither/neither tyres.... hehe. Toyo = cheap with ok name, Bridgestone = brilliant name with expensive tag... one extreme to the next i know... i am still no closer to a choice LOL im one confused puppy!

i used Toyo T1R for a few hundred k's and gave them away (free). Felt like i was driving without a tire, so didnt bother with them even IF they had a few positives.
you know the usual saying "You get what you pay for ... "
AFAIK my pirelli tyres were cheaper than bridgestones.
I used to buy bridgestones but now i always go with pirelli - they last MUCH longer!
the thing is, bridgestone design their tyres to be eaten away by the tarmac - it's for performance reasons.

Dont you have 19" ? That would explain the hard ride.
I liked the 18" I had on my MKIV. Good traction and good ride. Also wasnt very noisy.
If you can afford it, then for piece of mind go with the Bridgestone. If you on a budget then go for the Toyo.
Personally, when mine needs replacing I go for Toyo's.
Which Toyo tire you referring to ?
yeah 35 sidewall, maybe 40 sidewall rides much different.
The normal 17" Proxies
19" rims with 35 profiles... no wonder it feels like you driving with no tyres.
