Best Budget PSU? Say under R600

Looking at the Coolermaster Extreme 460w, Corsair CX500w, Vantec Ion 460w. Running a 5770 but would like some headroom.

Any suggestions welcome

I have a few machines with the Coolermaster Extreme 460w in them, and I think they are great. Cheap, quiet, stable, nicely made. Coolermaster generally make very good quality PSUs.

Gigabyte ODIN PSU's are also very reliable and cheap as long as you are not overclocking.

The Corsair CX series' build is way better than the Vantec ION, CoolerMaster Extreme Power & Gigabyte Odin power supplies.

I have the Coolermaster Extreme Power 460W in my PC at my office, which is running a i7 860 + HD 5670, but I'm not impressed with the PSU, except that it is very quiet.

The Antec HCG 400W is even better than the CX500 PSU, but it has only 1x PCI-E connector, which is all that the HD 5770 needs in any case.
If you have an i5 CPU, then your PC probably won't draw more than 220W in total, with the HD 5770 included, unless you're overclocking.

IMO, the Antec HCG 400W is the one to go for. Next in line is the Corsair CX500. I won't recommend any of the other Coolermaster, Gigabyte Odin or Vantec PSU's.

i'd go with the cx500 just so you got room for future upgrades etc, cause you don't wanna buy a new PSU every time you want a new GPU.
That said I've got a machine at home with an i5 750 @3.6GHz and 5770 on an OCZ 400w and no problems... Thing is silent! So the Antec is definitely a possible choice..

Between those three the Corsair is the only way to go.
Perhaps read some tests/reviews on your options and you'll see that those entry-level Coolermaster PSUs are really not that good despite the eXtreme Power badging. Have a look at hardwaresecrets reviews.

Everyone will have different opinions on what they like and what they don't. In the end it often boils down to: You get what you pay for.

Definitely the Corsair. No contest.

I just bought myself a Corsair AX750, never owned a Corsair before, been using an OCZ psu, but im pretty sure i'll be happy with Corsair. Can't go wrong with them.

Looney: simply you've got the best possible PSU from Corsair, doesn't imply that their other PSU's are also good.
I've got the AX850 and it's awesome, but also extremely expensive and completely irrelevant to this thread.

Take for example the Gigabyte Odin GT series PSU's. They are exceptionally good PSU's, but then you get the Gigabyte Odin series PSU's, which are junk.

So what I want to say is: even if you've got a good PSU from that brand, do not make suggestions for other models, unless you've seen good reviews.

Woah Pada, easy there tiger! You seem a little hostile.

All i was simply saying that i got myself a corsair psu because of all the good and positive feedback with regards to corsair psu's. I wasnt putting any other model down. Simply stating that corsair are known to make good psu's and hence get a corsair :)
