The GF is buying a brand new picanto - who is the best in terms of comprehensive insurance that will give the least hassles if claiming?

Thanks

Just check your policy. Majority with AF have a clause about driving after midnight etc.

Yea, has a clause about having an accident at night and no 3rd party identifiable. I think something to that effect. Then a separate excess.

My Picanto cost me R950 (ish) per month when I bought it, I was 23. This was with Outsurance, and I must say their service is fantastic, they gave me no hassles when claiming, and did so within a few hours of me calling in.

For her, it may be a bit cheaper as I'm a male, think we're slightly higher risk for the insurance companies.

Outsurance is ridiculous...

Quoted me R1200 for my i20.
Ended up going with Dial Direct for R840.
Paying R640 now with Budget after turning 25.

Ask your broker.

Stay away from Outsurance.

Nonsense. The only time outsurance gave me bad service is when I wanted to leave them :D
My parents have been with them since the start and have never had any issues. You just need to negotiate their rates down.

In terms of how comprehensive they are, they cover you damn well. If you take the time to read the contract it is spelled out clearly what is covered and what is not.

have experience with the insurance industry, dont waste your time with the small fries(outsurance, budget etc), go to Santam, might be similar pricing, but no issues at all with claim settling, one of the best claim settlers on the market.

You really don't want to have to deal with issues when making claims. Not worth the R50pm saving.

Haha, outsurance small fry? They are the biggest insurer on the market. Who knew? You, by the sound of it!

We're with Hollard through a broker. Can't complain.

Stay away from Outsurance.

well maybe im still thinking in the past, but theres a difference between offering a client cheap insurance and actually caring about whether you pay your client out, most business only care about making money, not as much about the client.

A business by definition cares mostly about making money. If you think Santam is going to put your needs before theirs, you are going to have a bad time.

Outsurance is operated by RMI. Definitely not small fry. I've had good experience with Outsurance, even though they are a little pricey, their claims process is easy and hassle free.

Outsurance isn't too bad, but the third parties they INSIST on using are the big problem with them.

*****

They also tried to dodge a claim with me where I needed to get them to go through their recorded voice calls to state that I didn't remove the cover like they said I had.

It turned out fine in the end, but it does leave a bad taste.

Which is why I massively prefer my broker who works via email as I have it all in writing.
