Hi,

are these stats:

2lc8tu8.png

good enough for 10meg when it rolls out in my area?
(I have a DGN2000 btw, supports all the fancy ish)

I think it might be good enough. Here's mine:

Line Attenuation 3.0 db 4.0 db
Noise Margin 30.2 db 12.0 db

If that's all the areas that support 10meg then telkom.........

No, (as the page indicates - "Exchanges recently enabled for ADSL") see: http://www.broadbandstats.co.za/exchange/latest/10mbps as for all 10 Mb/s exchanges, see below and here: http://www.broadbandstats.co.za/

"10Mbps Enablement
Since the 27th of May 60 new exchanges have been marked as enabled for 10Mbps ADSL [1]. This brings the total number of 10Mbps enabled exchangs to 163 (11%). This roughly corresponds to 1 exchange a day. At this rate to enable all the current ADSL exchanges with 10Mbps functionality will take 2 years."

Same here Merenwenrago.

I've now actually downgraded to 1Mbps, since 4Mbps uncapped is just way too expensive.

SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 302 260
Attenuation (0.1 dB): 80 35
Output Power (0.1 dBm): 72 121
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 11936 1208
Rate (Kbps): 4096 512

telkom guy says my line can only get 4 meg yet my dslam and exchange is upgraded what a LOL (Was 0800375375)

I am in walking distance to the dslam literally around the corner

Next guy I tried say yes I can get 10 meg try phoning 10219 yet he was on 10219 :p

Now the current guy says my exchange only supports 1 meg :) (I must be special cause I have 4 meg line)

now 0800375375 says the exchange only supports 4 megs

Any other numbers I can try? Which is right 10 meg or 4 meg enabled? Is http://www.broadbandstats.co.za/search/phone/ accurate?

Unfortunately you will have to wait until the backhaul bandwidth is available to the exchange, however it might already be...

Switch off your router, disconnect the telephone cable to the modem for at least 10 minutes.

Then switch on your router (do not connect the telephone cable), change you ADSL modulation to automatic (depends on your router - it looks like you are using a Netgear DG834G), wait for the router to restart, once operational, plug in the telephone cable - you should now have access to 10 Mbps.

Please post your ADSL settings of your router and make and model.

Regards

m

My router is 300M Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem Router Model No. TD-W8960N

I tried your suggestion but for some reason can only have G.dmt enabled by itself or the dsl won't sync

attachment.php

If it doesn't sync on ADSL2+, then your exchange/DSLAM isn't ADSL2+ (10Mbps) ready yet.
G.Dmt modulation should be able to provide you with up to 8Mbps speed if the DSLAM supports that high speed.

I would suggest that you select G.Dmt & ADSL2+ modulations.

I tried that but it won't sync with g.dmt & adsl2+ selected at same time

That is very strange that it won't sync with both modulation techniques selected.

I would've only guessed that it would take much longer to sync, since it tries both modulation techniques for the best possible performance.
