I must admit, I'm starting to feel sorry for these guys. I don't think we can imagine the stress and growls in those corridors.
I a few short weeks, the had many bad press reports.
They had to answer a complaint at ASA
They sent a MS-Word doc which was analysed on technical level recreating its history
They were hit wit the open proxies
They were hit with the "baddie list"
And now they are hit with the leak of client info.
(But then they should have learnt from previous experience to send PDF's and not MS-Word docs)
As much as I like a decent fight, I agree that the point has been reached where Sentech MyWireless could be destroyed and I will loose the hope of being covered by them around October as an alternative to ADSL.
They are used being in very deep trouble, and any further trouble will be like water running from a duck.
The press war has shaken them - their speedy closure of the proxies and the notice board of some kind tells that loudly.
I guess that the Open Day is a way to try to set things straight, and I do hope that ITweb also gets an invite. If they don't speak straight and level, it will hit the press again.
The cherry would be when Sentech announces a decent rebate to those affected by themselves - even if it is just "well add 3 months for free when your 24 months has expired". I guess it would take away a lot of anger.
The fact is, we as consumers are between the devil and the deep blue sea: We have the choice between overpriced Telkom and underperforming Sentech. Sentech has some chance of getting their performance up to scratch. Telkom won't reduce shareholder value by reducing rates.
South Africa needs World Class Broadband at World Competitive Prices.
