On second thought... What will make this meeting different. Will this meeting imply that they will all of a sudden start keeping their promises?
I'm willing to bet that they will make a lot of promises that will never see the light.

History will tell you these people don't keep promises.

Kemo,

Billing information was not sent out. They were using what appears to be a database dump to get users email addresses so they could email out the AUP, but the dump also contained address and phone number, and some people got this excel document attached instead of the AUP.
Ok perhaps we should auction off Winston's home address hmmm? Do I have R100.00 ? lol

The only thing Sentech needs to do is provide me with the service they advertised. I am a paying customer and I do not have time to help fix their network or their public relations nightmare for them in an "open day", as if they were a charity. I can understand Rodent's reasoning for constructive engagement, however, I am a client who is paying much $$$ monthly for a service that is nothing like they advertised which seems to be entirely due to their incompetence, and because they will not come clean in public about this, they are still signing up subscribers onto this half-baked network.

As unpleasant as a "media war" is, it is the natural result of a company that is seemingly way out of it's depth technically and has chosen an antagonistic stance towards its subscribers' complaints. As far as I'm concerned they blew the chance for constructive engagement many weeks ago when they had the oppurtunity to come clean about the problems instead of seeming to mislead the press and their users.

Sentech must now sink or swim, and if you're unhappy with the service switch to ADSL or wait for the competition. I honestly think the constructive route is a waste of time - you're dealing with a company that thinks that 4kbs is broadband, allows their bandwidth to be plundered by all and sundry while accusing their customers of abuse, and then, to top it all, emails their user list to everyone. Do you honestly think that anything less than a complete change of management and technical staff is going to make a difference going forward?

Just a question: If : (1) Opening a ticket did not work (2) Complaining did not work (3) TheRodent having a meeting with them did not work (3) ITWeb posting their columns on how sensuck suck dit not work (4) Starting websites like F***sentech did not work

The list goes on and on…. Why, WHY will this work. AND What do we have to do to get what we are paying for. Maybe releasing HOME addresses will do the trick. ANYBODY got paint and to much free time on hands???[^][^][^]

Can you imagine how long it will take to summon a demon over a 1.26KBps connection?

It is "by default" illegal for Sentech to give out customer's confidential information to anyone else, unless it was explicitly stated in the contract that you are assigning them the right to give it out, and that you "reasonably knew" about this when signing the contract. If it wasn't in the contract, then nothing in any other 'privacy policy' can render what they just did legal. Usually though companies sell confidential information to generate income, not given out by mistake due to INCREDIBLE incompetence, but I suspect that doesn't make it any less illegal.

Take it from me, I recieved the list, from what I can tell, it did not contain all that much information, and only went out to the last few people on the list.
Lets try to keep this quiet, and as the rodent suggested, if you are also one of the few that got this list, do the Right thing.
Since TheRodent somewhere along the line became the public voice of our group, If he says something, we should co-operate with his statements.
He made some sort of agreement with certain Sentech staff, and we must now go with it.

In order for us to have some sort of relationship with Sentech, we must work together, like it or not, we are in a relationship with them, and they will only ease up on us, when we are no longer THE ENEMY.
So I urge all of us users, to lay off sentech on this blunder, and keep it quiet for a few days we will give them one last chance at co-operation, if co-operation cannot be reached, we will go back to Enemy mode, and hunt them down like Rabbits.

You wont believe what black hats could do with that information! [:0]

Identity theft, cracking systems using YOUR MW account, and a million other things.

This is really serious. ST could be nailed to the cross for this if the right complaints are lodged.
The open day sounds like a good idea. My only concern is that they will dance around direct questions like they have been doing this past few months. I would like to believe that if we can have a meeting,(providing and they are honest and straight) we could straighten out the problems and then BROADBAND FREEDOM[:D][:D][:D]

If the meeting is arranged ST will be made to understand that if they fsck us over this time we will burn all bridges and go for the jugular.

This will be a one time offer.

I will most certainly attend the open day. I will not be agressive and rude, but I would love to demonstrate to sentech what a firm and unmovable stance is and demand answers.

Picture a hard talk type interview...

Yeah, if the open day occurs when I'm free.. I'll be there :> . However, what is it that Sentech wants to hear
from us? Surely they know what the problem is? Our speeds are absolutely useless, but we've told they'll be fixed by the end of August. IF that is the case then their really is no need for a meeting, they must just fix myy speeds. :p
My speeds were up yesterday, today they're totally ****.

peace =)

I'll lay off sentech on this and other blunders if they lay off charging me money for their service ;) I don't know what arrangements TheRodent might make with sentech, I sure hope he achieves something, but remember that ultimately we pay sentech for wireless broadband, not TheRodent. All I want is the advertised service and if they can't provide it then they're guilty of false advertising and in breach of contract, and should rightly bear the brunt of the consumer activism against them.

Guys.....the Rodent has led this war on SENTECH and i feel if he believes that the time is right tohandle it this way......So do I..... we can carry on hurling abuse at them etc but i can tell you now that the only people that it affects is you.....

If we can get to a working group that has the ability to address our issues and take your and my concerns to SENTECH, well then i think we are better off than we are now.....

All of our actions has forced SENTECH to listen to the customer (even though they didn't probably believe they had too).... now we have to give them the chance....Why should we do this????? because we can...... the high road is there so lets walk it.

Lets put the past behind and get this damn thing to work......hell if anyone wants to go back to telkom.... well i aint !!!!!

The more competition the better!!!!!!!!!

I fail to see how an Open Day will resolve anything.
Here I sit, posting on a less than 56k modem speed connection which has been consistently **** for 3 weeks now and I'm supposed to support an "open day" ?

Sorry, fsck that.

It seems obvious to me that the "open day" idea is simply to keep the users quiet for a bit longer while Sentech try to get themselves out of the mess they are so obviously in.

It's pointless - what will they tell us we don't already know ?
That they are sorry they are so incompetent ?

They've publically blamed users for the network slowdowns and threatend to take action against users because of that and yet TheRodent finds out that the main reason for the bandwidth excesses was open proxy servers !

They've lied to each and every one of thier customers to try to "buy some time" while they sort out the obvious mess of thier infrastructure.

There's really only one option that I'm going to consider.

Cancel my fsking wireless and go ADSL.
I really don't have the time or patience to do anything else, I've got a life to live and a business to run. \

Interesting, a week ago Michelle did not want to "stoop that low" by having an official ST presence in this forum. Who TF does Marcel think is going to attend the open day then , the non MyAdsl users or the exact ppl Michelle didn't want to associate with ??? LOL
