Thanks to both, will look at trying Beira Alta because I am lus for seafood, but that Karroo Cattle and Land looks awesome too will have to give that a try next time.

LOL, it's Mommy and Daddy night tonight so I will be staying as far away from it as possible!

Can't think of any seafood place in Monte (John Dory's does not count). I think Kai Thai is probably the best with regards to quality of food, service and surrounding. Coco Bongo, La Scala, Verdicchio are also not too bad. Everything else is pretty much run of the mill. Karoo (across the street) was not that great, but that was over a year ago and some people rave about it (I wouldn't go back after a bad experience though).

I would avoid however Friday and weekends - it's a mess with parents dropping off their kids for the movies and them going on a "romantic dinner".

the best portugese chicken EVER!

And it pains me to say that, because we received absolutely shoddy service on two occasions eating there. I've even gone on a 1 year boycott , but its like the "soup nazi" sketch from seinfield, the chicken is that good, I have swallowed my pride and started eating there again.

Not a seafood person. The SO normally orders the pan fried prawns and the sauce does seem similar. Just talking about it makes me salivate
