Just fired up my 8ta modem, and the speeds look good:

Download Speed: 5201 kbps (650.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2203 kbps (275.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 58 ms

International also not too bad :)

Test conducted on Sat Jul 16 2011 23:15:59 GMT+0200 (South Africa Standard Time)

Download Speed: 6223 kbps (777.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 624 kbps (78 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 222 ms

I got the Huawei E173 to do some testing in my area, here are the results:

Local:
Download Speed: 4035 kbps (504.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2353 kbps (294.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 117 ms

International:
Download Speed: 3266 kbps (408.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1747 kbps (218.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 267 ms

This is on 2-3 bars for signal though.

Edit: The results below are after I moved the modem around to try and improve the signal.

Local:
Download Speed: 5441 kbps (680.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2075 kbps (259.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 108 ms

International:
Download Speed: 5196 kbps (649.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1741 kbps (217.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 237 ms

I am based in Centurion/Midrand.

2 bars signal strength...

Yeah I can understand that.
I play on XBL with 8ta and its actually damn good. CellC is pretty bad, but the actual DL speeds are excellent, just not good enough for gaming.
