I finally after 20 odd years and years of complaining here, have left Vodacom.

I had to come post this because of all the moaning I did previously.

Cell C have gained a customer.

So I went for the Pinnacle unlimited deal.

R999 - 10 gigs data, 5000 minutes, 5000 sms's + R10 000 cash back

I was initially concerned over coverage and quality.

Let me just tell you guys, if you think Vodacom is the superior network in this country you are either on crack or living under some rock.

For the fist time in many years I have not had a dropped call yet.
I no longer experience the issue during a call where the other person on the call goes from almost like a stereo conversation to almost like the person is in a tunnel, hollow and mono in sound.

I cannot believe it has taken me this long to finally cut the umbilical cord.

No longer will I have to argue every month about OOB due to their pathetic systems not sending me notifications about usage.

Every single month it was a fight with them, even having to escalate to the office of the CEO due to OOB and never being notified via SMS or the app about usage.
And dont let the propaganda team here lie to you, everyone I speak to has the same issue monthly.

I dont know were they went wrong, perhaps AKC leaving?
The quality and service is non existent anymore.

Cell C OOB is 15 cents per meg. This bull **** thats its a few customers is just blatant lying.
I will be saving nearly R1000-00 per month now and getting 10 times more
Vodacom, you guys should be hauled over to the competition commission or something like that.
I sincerely hope Parliament sort you lot out once and for all.

The Cell C app is far superior, more user friendly.
It just works.

So far the quality on Cell C is truly awesome, granted its only been a few days.
WIFI calling seems to work very well too.
Data speeds seem great so far in JHB.
Call quality is unbelievable.

I do not know what the hell VC was trying to achieve on their network but the issue of fluctuating quality between what I can only describe as stereo and then mono was the most irritating and terrible experience.

How they justify the cost vs quality on their network I will never understand.
I do understand the quality may be bad outside the main areas but that doesnt apply to me.

People need to wake up and understand you have choices and you vote with your money.

You won't be sorry. I've been with Cell C for 4 years now after being with VodaScum for about 10 years(since I got my first phone). After they told me I've been sending messages from my data sim to my normal sim, it was the last straw.

Moved my wife over to Cell C as well this past weekend, from MTN.

I am sorry I never did this sooner.

People need to get educated and show VC the middle finger.

They have completely lost touch with their customers.

In the end they didnt even argue with me about the OOB - just refunded me.
I even have it in writing from the CEOs office that it was their error on their side with the notifications and they would get back to me on the fix.......still waiting.

Shocking

Will also be leaving Vodacom after 20 years in two months.

Bio, so far, I am completely flawed at how good the quality is on Cell C.
The quality is crystal clear and no dropped calls.
Not one so far, I have never experienced that before.
on VC I almost always have a few per day

But they were trying to rectify that, giving you 1 free minute for every droped call, that free minute was to be used within 10 seconds...

Poor sods

Good hear you having a good experience with Cell C.
Also looking at leaving Vodacom after about 15years.

Was originally looking at moving to Afrihost(MTN), but will also consider Cell C (if the network is as good as you say it is)

I'm moving to FNB (Cell C). I can make my own package, it's month to month, auto top up, cheaper and I get 40% back in eBucks. Vodacom signal is terrible in my town. I have no need to upgrade my Sony Z3, it's still an awesome phone.

I enjoy reading about people migrating from MTN and Vodacom. These two cohorts are/were the cartel of the mobile space for far too long. Even try their darnedest to thwart competition while engorging themselves at the expense of the poorest.

F@ck them both - I have a totally irrational hatred for these two companies. Their collective demise would be my euphoria. Sick I know, but that's what it is. Like it, don't like it, I don't care.

I have just downgraded from Contract VodaCom customer to Prepaid until I get my new Cellc sim delivered so I can port to Cellc. I ordered a Pinnacle 600 package and this is the first time I will be a CellC customer after being with Vodacom for last 15 years.

oh and the reason i moved away from Vodacom for following reasons:

1) Personally I dont believe in the service provider choose what type of handset will be provided. e.g. Vodacom didnt want to offer dual sim handsets. They probably worried that the other service provider might show off their network capabilities.

2) Vodacom is quite expensive in terms of their Data, i mean like R529 per month (Sim Only) on Smart L Package where you get 500 mb and 250 mins.. Really??

Jesus, OP. Where have you been?

Ha ha - got a warning from a certain mod over a fact that I backed up, just wasnt worth the fight and aggravation anymore.

I just needed to post this OP because of all the complaining I did over VC throughout the years.

I really didnt realise how bad they have become, you pay top $ for less than average service.
I am encouraging everyone I speak to - Either go to Cell C, FNB or Telkom

Anyone else - just not VC or MTN

Sorry Ocks, you must be sick and tired of me sending mails to complain about OOB, the last incident was the last straw.
I actually had to call in a favour to get hold of the CEO's office because I was sick and tired of fighting with the call centre.
You get no help whatsoever and the srm e mail address is even more pathetic.
Thats supposed to be a supervisory support centre????
They dont even bother to reply.

Vodacom have some serious problems
1. OOB - this is criminal mafia behaviour.
2. Price per meg and quality of service
3. Voice is appalling - dropped calls and general quality is probably the worst I have experienced and keeps getting worse.

If Cell C can offer OOB at 15 cents / meg why cant VC?
Now that BLT have injected a further few billion its just going to be better for Cell C
I would have gone to Telkom as well however Cell C giving me the amount to buy out my contract was a no brainer and this all happened in roughly 2 days. Literally called someone and they did everything in 2 days, didnt have to do anything. Oh and not to mention, VC refused me another contract due to a dispute I am having with Momentum on my name, Cell C said no problem we dont care

Anyone here done the same?

I moved the wife and daughter to Telkom Mobile 2 years ago - after the initial teething issues, they seem pretty happy.

Am also strongly considering moving from Vodacom to Telkom in the new year.
