Google+ and your privacy

I work at Varsity--of all corporates, these guys should be the first to embrace Google solutions--they tell me NO, I have to go with GroupWise and SharePoint--they claim it is safer and secure; I have given up hope now. But, from what you have achieved, should give any IT manager a wet-dream!

Alas, I will just stick to my small global world, which just got bigger with g+.

I think they know more than you.

Has anyone figured out how to disassociate their Google account with the Google+ feature?

um, you should have created a new gmail account and signed up using that rather if you wanted this to be separate from your normal gmail.

What frustrates me more than anything, is how closed minded some organisations in South Africa are. Not all, just some. We have such great talent. Anyone reading MyBroadband news regularly could attest to that. But then, the flip side again.....
There are more often than not emotive reasons underlying statements such as "...GroupWise and Sharepoint are more secure..." when it is not substantiated with fact. If indeed those applications were more secure than Google Apps, which indirectly implies that Google is not, then why would the City of Los Angeles or KLM airline move 30,000 and 11,200 employees respectively to Google Apps?

You won't.

Google wants the kewl and trendy to jump ship from FB and embrace "+".

I don't think it's going to happen, Google ceased to kewl about a year ago.

And FB isn't about communities anyway, it's about everyone shouting as loudly as they can and clamoring for affirmation.

It's the heartless megacity of the internet with deadbolts and triple locks to make your front door safe.

It IS actually quite easy to delete a Google+ account, unlike attempting to do the same on FB.

To delete a Google+ profile, navigate to https://plus.google.com/settings/general
Under services, click "Delete profile and remove associated social features" OR "Close account and delete all services and info associated with it"

Thanks.. :D got it.

I really wish more of my friends would sign up. It's pretty dead for me at the moment.

Then let them know why they should join when you send them that invite message

Agreed. The more invites that get sent out, the more people will join, hopefully at a geometric rate. I wonder when Google will open the gates, so to speak...
