Google Android versus Apple iPhone OS 4: Which is faster?

the question isn't always which is faster, but which one is more user friendly. With idiots outnumbering normal well-rounded people by 100:1, you'd have to cater for the majority, which I think Apple has.

People also ignore the fact that your cellphone shouldn't necessarily be your only source for connecting and browsing the internet. Personally I'd use a PC/Mac with a browser and ADSL before I browse with my phone. My phone is just convenient when I don't have a PC/MAC around and need quick information...

So who cares which is fast. Can I make calls? yes. Can I send texts? yes. Can I browse the internet when I have to? yes. Is it easy to use? yes.

Awesome

Bit of a pointless exercise really. I would say a performance of a phone could only be measured by having a predetermined set of tasks (adding contacts/calendar events/send sms etc) performed by fanboys from either camp and see which is faster to finish.

which has the best experience, not thinking about which one is 1.2 milliseconds faster?

as far as I know, Apple has a huge leap ahead of any competition when it comes to sheer totals of users *actually using* the internet from their phones

well the iOS4 is so crap slow on my iPhone 3G im considering going back to factory settings to see if its actually usable, is very anoying to use atm.

I want to go out and get a HTC Desire but i feel so guilty... I dont need it i'm just curious and want to check out Android. Playing on iOS is boring now, all the restrictions makes me

I can probably feed some hungry people with the Desire's money but i just waste waste waste... i think i'm still going to go get it though :D

Same here, got an iPhone but really want an HTC Desire. Maybe I should start developing for Android then I would have an excuse to get one :P

Had my Desire a few days now. It's awesome. I set it up in mnutes flat just by giving it a few of my email addresses and passwords. No server names, no settings, nada.

You can customise this thing almost infintely, and there's no big brother dictating to you what you can do with it.

The screen is big and typing on the onscreen keyboard is really fast and accurate.

True, but one still has to root for some functions.

All you guys wanting to get the Desire, the phone is totally worth it! It is beyond awesome! Must also add, there seems to be a few other Android phones on the horizon...do a lot of research and see if waiting a month or 2 could not maybe deliver something new and improved. Either way, Android moves so fast, you will love it and hate it...love it, because it has gone from 0-100 in less than 2 years, hate it, because you will get so used to the quick progress and speed that it evolves at, that you get very impatient when something takes a little while:-)

Already talking about 2Ghz CPU phones when Gingerbread aka Android OS 3 gets released. Scary stuff.

Yay, less battery and hotter phones :D

probably true of all new phones.

but then froyo has actually extended battery life so who knows.

looking at gsmarena - the iPhone OS4 seems to be on par with Android 2.1 (HTC Desire). Guessing Froyo leaves it a bit behind.

Personally I don't care. I know why I bought a Nexus One. Still happy with it today.

i think google must change their ugly android logo and try some fancy names for its os,this names sound like they are from the ice age

So, in summary, apple fail...

Yup, the Google Android team doesn't wait for anyone. :)

I would love to get a Nexus One, cos I think they might become collectors items in the future. Only phone Google has ever released.
