Google Authenticator now syncs 2FA codes to the cloud

Google has updated its Authenticator smartphone app for Android and iOS with support for backing up two-factor authentication (2FA) codes to the cloud.

Since its launch in 2010, the app has stored one-time 2FA codes for all services locally on a single device — typically a smartphone.
 
Good. Now I won't be locked out of my MYBB profile if I don't export my Authenticator keys.

I am curious why the Android version doesn't have search? Sure, it isn't on purpose; perhaps there is a limitation in making those queries? Maybe when they allow exporting to the cloud, that it may be re-imported into a richer system. Anyhow. Just some brainy questions. I mostly use Authy in any case. Google Authenticator is a backup. I don’t like keeping anything online any more.

Google has had some bad apps, but this one takes the cake. I have so many 2FA codes that the app crashes.
 
After having the pain of moving to another phone after the prevous broke, I have now setup an old phone with all my 2fa accounts and it now lives in the safe.

The MS Authenticator App is a very good alternative. Just don't get hacked. I don't exclusively rely on online password and 2FA managers because I have trust issues. An app like Enpass is good to have.
 
This is good news. I keep creating new backup codes because I always forget where I put the old ones
 
Switched to Authy a few years ago because Google Authenticator was limited when getting a new device.
