Google Chrome for Linux and Mac

Ubuntu 8.04
Surely they mean 9.04
I don't quite understand how it can only be used for Debian-based systems at the moment. Just release the source code and let users compile and install it.

I'm really not even going to try Chrome. Firefox is the best browser for Linux, nevermind Windows.

So much choice now for ubuntu.. firefox 3.5 beta, opera 10 beta(which I love) and now chrome...

I'll test out chrome with GMail.

I have been running it for a few days. No crashes (yet) and running the dev version. Seems solid as a rock, and REALLY responsive. Using Kubuntu 9.04 with KDE 4.2.4.

I'm sure they mean 8.04, seeing as 8.04 is a LTS version and will still be around (supported) for 2 years (Desktop version).

My (only semi educated and untested) understanding is as follows:
Chrome is more geared towards web applications and not general web browsing. To me this means that Gmail will run much better on Chrome, while a site like these forums will probably perform better on Firefox.

I will definitely give Chrome a try on my ubuntu 8.04.
