Hi All

Been able to finally secure a 2nd gen Chromecast for use with Netflix in our primary TV room. While the setup was pretty straight forward I do have a strange question:

I am currently running the latest version of the app, netflix and chromecast ( all updated on monday ) and I cast from my Samsung S4. It all goes very well and streams to the TV, when you are over half way through the show (I had been using my phone to do other stuff) I lost the ability to see what I am casting.

If I log into netflix it seems as if that session as ended, how do I stop this from happening? Should I need to stop the show during this period how do I do so?

regards

It sometimes happens with my Chromecast 1 as well, although only when I stream Tunein Radio for a long period. It is as if the phone loses track after being asleep. It never bothered me much, because the music only plays in the background. I can imagine it would be irritating if it happens in Netflix and you waste a minute or three to resume viewing.

This happens to me sometimes. I just reconnect to my Chromecast and it works fine (it doesn't stop playing, just reconnects to my phone). I don't know why this happens though.

Happens when the phone goes from sleep to a deeper sleep and clears up some memory. Suppose you can prevent your phone from doing a deep sleep but that would hurt battery life.

What I do is use the GoogleCast App(aka Chromecast app). Once you open the app you can pause, play, change volume all without the Netflix app even running. Prefer it to the Netflix app it's simpler and faster.

Btw it has nothing to do with your Chromecast 1 or 2... It's the phone older versions of android don't have these advanced battery saving techniques so might not have the same problems.
