Google, Facebook, YouTube access through local bandwidth

Twitter should have had local presence for the world cup, overloading way too much...
 
A few less websites with which to check whether I am capped :(

Anyway, with the introduction of reasonable prices for uncapped I think there is almost no need for local anymore.

I don't think this is because of caps and our bandwidth to the rest of the world at all. This is how really large websites do their infrastructure and you will find that they have similar local caches in china, india, australia, europe, etc to more quickly serve those local areas, and also take load of their main data centers. It has nothing to do with our local/intl cap situation.
 
My isp uses google's dns by default. Any fast and reliable local dns's you guys can recommend?

I understand, but my comment was aimed at users who still live in 2008. That realy on local browsing after they have been capped.

Besides Google, some Facebook and Youtube, I have notice that Reddit also seems to be hosted locally.

Gmail is not however. At least not on DoBroadband.

that would never ever happen. With 400 million users if they make just $1 in advertising revenue from each user that is $400mil (and this is not real numbers, it's just an example but I know add impressions work more complicated than that) ... why would they EVER need to charge for FB? That's one of those silly internet myths right up there with the "forward this test email and Bill Gates will give you $20000.
 
Has Facebook local gone down? Google and You Tube still seem to be local.
