Well, we just have to have one.

What might happen:

  • Android Wear should have some hardware unveiled.
  • The "L" release of Android being announced (this will happen, though).
  • Android TV being rebooted.
  • Home automation the Google way.
  • Confirmation on the Nexus / Android Silver lines.
  • Updates to Chrome OS.
  • Gaming on Android

These are a few points that I can think of off the top of my head, but hopefully there is quite a bit more. Looking at the schedule, there is a lot of development focus across a number of different areas for Android.

Dear OP, how dare you start a new thread about Google IO 2014?! Mercurial is going to have a fit. ;-)
 
Maybe a Chromecast refresh? (Hope not as i just purchased 1 today :erm:)

My thread was specifically about the new version of Android, which you needlessly duplicated. This is a general Google IO thread, which encompasses everything ;-)

Well there hasn't been the usual rumors about a new version so it'll probably be another imperceptibly minor "upgrade" like the last few. Along with maybe a Nexus device that will take about 6 months to reach us.
 
i am looking forward to a new nexus tablet :) need to change from ios but the samsung skin is off putting for their tablets.

But it has been confirmed that the new version will be announced later. And most likely no device announcement.

Well even your OP said that they will announce a new version... They always do it at IO. It's just a question of how much a difference there will be between the versions.
