Google Nexus 4

I've put my iPhone 4 on gumtree to try to pay for this and I'm making some decent progress. So I think I'll get the 8GB model on ebay. The 16GB is so much more expensive, wow. Do you guys think 8GB will be enough? I'll only need my recently added songs on it, and I don't play many games, except for the odd very casual game.

I honestly would not recommend 8GB...remember the actual available space would probably be around 5.5GB taking into account the firmware on the phone etc.
When you take consider your music, 20 apps or so and your photos/videos you can easily get close to filling it up...and a year or so when the available space decreases substantially the phone may slow down.

It honestly depends how you use your phone, you'll get people that absolutely need 64GB for whatever and others that will not even scratch the 8GB limit. So just depends how you use the phone, as your entertainment center or plain phone.

I'm interested to know if anyone has ever used www.myus.com before? I was speaking to a friend about it now and I'd never really gone into the site in detail but we sat together and went through the costs and everything and the prices seem pretty damn good.

What do your cost calculations look like Jimbo?

A few MyBB users have used myus before. So it seems legit

Used them a couple of years back, very legit. Only reason I stopped using them was I could not justify paying a monthly subscription to occasionally bring in stuff from overseas

I'll be sad if they restock this week, having just bought from CPW.

BUT, if you do try and get from Play, I suggest you be as quick as humanly possible because they will probably be sold out within an hour again.

Well we took the phone price $299 and delivery (1-4 days) is about $70 and current exchange rates equates to about R3300. If I remember correctly there's still VAT and Customs fees to be added but all together it should surely be under R4500?

Local prices seem to be between R6000-R6500 so ya.....

I'm sticking with the Galaxy Nexus for now and will wait till next year to see what phones are available.

Esquire claim to be getting stock tomorrow. Seems to be very sketchy information though; I can't decide if they are confused between the Nexus 4, 7 and 10.

If they do get, I'm willing to bet that all the units are already spoken for though.

Yeah I got the mail from Google to that effect too. Keen to see how quickly this batch disappears.

Where did you see this?

Damn, CrazYmonkeY, with all your posts in this thread, I also start lusting after this iconic phone. :(

Aye kingrob, IIRC you were also a Desire HD user, my 2 year contract is up, need a new device. May just cancel the contract and get this cash. My friends keep telling me that I have too much passion for this phone

The phone is not without its flaws. But one thing that I want is a phone that ALWAYS has the latest Android I'm sick of waiting around for the manufacturers to put their skin ontop of Android. Skins/UX additions to Android were only justifiable for Android 1.6-2.3. Now stock Android is just fine now (more than fine) the design is good etc etc.

Just so everyone is on the same page you should go to www.reddit.com/r/nexus4 you should be well informed when buying this phone.

Wow, it would appear that they are not confused. 10x Nexus 4 coming in.

Although a few things:
1.) He says "ordered and paid for". That could mean he's waiting on Google Play to fill his backorder, just like 100,000 other people.
2.) Doesn't mention whether its 8GB or 16GB.
3.) If they didn't source them from Google Play, the price is surely going to be high considering the only other place they could have been bought is retail (like Carphone Warehouse), and the RRP is £400.

In any event, it is impressive that they have managed to get some and I am sure they will sell.
