What do you mean recognised it as that ? Its the definition of HAL don't need to be on xda to see that or find that out :p

Edit: I think I know what you are talking about. I think we have to recognise that ourBB has now become everyonesBB . So there is a lot of non IT people trawling (different from trolling) in our waters. Can be irritating, but I think its great as it enables us to educate them

My Nexus 5 has shipped!!!the waiting has been killing me and now I need to wait another 10 days before I have it in my hands!!!

Ordered it on Friday morning..got an email notifying me that my order shipped earlier this morning, so 4 working days essentially..off to the US on Friday..got it delivered to some friends in Indianapolis and I'll be in Indianapolis next weekend...hence the additional 10 day wait

You must've ordered the 32gb ? I ordered the 16gb on Nov 24 and est shipping only Dec 11.
So ya, the wait goes on.

Just got a mail now, it's just been shipped !!!!:)
 
So finally contacted the family in Aus, the cost of the 16GB is $399. Total cost for the device plus shipping works out to R4300. Not sure what Customs will charge but sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

Just have to find out how to transfer money to Aus now....

ja I ordered the black 32gb model..it also said shipping by 11 December so I was pleasantly surprised when I got my shipping notification mail!

How did you get it right to place the order?
I tried logging in with a VPN and I'm able to go as far as clicking buy. But the second I log in with my standard gmail address, it boots me out.

I want to get it delivered to my dad in the US, I will be there from January for 6 months.

I hope when I'm there, I don't get booted out of the US Play store :/

Create a new dummy gmail account quickly, when you register it, choose USA as your location. Use that account to purchase via the VPN.

Create a new Gmail account using the VPN connection, ensure that the contact details are valid for the US. It allowed me to order this way.

Secondly, your credit card info could be very hit and miss- some people report that their local cards work, others state that it doesn't (such as myself).

Also, make sure that your address information matches the address info you have listed in Google Wallet.

All the advice that I can give.

Am I correct in saying the LTE of the US version doesn't work here, but the 3G and GSM does?

There is a mobile network here on the USA LTE band not sure who it is but there is a wikipedia page stating it all (don't have the link right now)
