Google Nexus 5

I've never pushed my OnePlus One's battery, so I have no idea. Probably a very, very long time, as the battery barely moves unless the screen is in use. I don't think I've ever had my battery level below 50% by late evening, even when using the phone a lot.

This is my current battery:

This is an old screenshot, the day after I got the phone:

As you can see, I'm not kidding when I say the battery doesn't move if the screen is off.

Those look really good! But for me to get the full picture, those has to be accompanied by the screen on time at that stage.

Is there a way I can check screen-on time without installing a battery monitoring app? I have purchased BetterBatteryStats and Battery Widget Reborn, but those were for when I was having issues on my old Samsung, and drained the battery significantly. Not keen to install them on my OnePlus One.

Yes, on the battery info screen you posted, just tap "screen" on the list.

Awesome lol. Had no idea you could check extra info by touching each line item in the battery screen.

As requested:

Wow, I've never seen battery life that good before on any Android phone. That extrapolates to about 10 hours of screen on time with a decent stand by time of about two days. Much better than I expected. I wonder what kind of magic is at work here.

By the way, Android L is supposed to improve that even further.

Nice. Just shows what a difference not having bloatware can make. I haven't selected ART runtime btw. Will probably just wait for the official L release as Cyanogenmod is pretty fast with their OnePlus updates. It updated to 4.4.4 as soon as I turned on the device for the first time.

I was hoping someone with a Nexus 5 can answer. Even though the battery capacity is important, we know from experience that other factors such as software optimization also impact battery life.

On stock 4.4.4, with a few Xposed addons and so on, I regularly had 2 days of useable charge. I'd usually charge it every night for about an hour, but there were a few times where I went more than a day without charging it and having sufficient battery life.

Of course, this depends heavily on usage- if you're gonna browse websites via 3G for hours on end, the battery will deplete a lot quicker. Poor signal also affects the battery life quite substantially.

But ultimately, I never had any issues with battery life, which is something I could not say about the Nexus 4. The Nexus 5 was pretty comparable to the Note 2 that I previously used.

New 9to5Google site has been pretty confident on these specs and has currently just announced a 5.9" Display

5.92QHD Display @ 498ppi
3200mAh Battery
13mp Back, 2mp Front Camera
Snapdragon 805
3GB Ram

For me, that's way too big!

Yeah, I'm not happy with the phablet size either. I think the G2 was the perfect compromise- 5.2" screen on a device just a little bigger than the S4.

I've also never known Google to have the Nexus devices share their screen size with the number. That is reserved for the tablets AFAIK.

5.9" is only manageable for most people if it has tiny bezels. Basically if the phone's dimensions are no bigger than a OnePlus One. If it looks like a Nexus 5 but with a 5.9" screen it will be way too big imo.

If it is indeed this size, given that the rumour has had it at 5.2" until now, then I'd rather go Moto X or Nexus 5.

The reason I'd not consider the OnePlus is the size, and that applies here as well (if this is true)

There are rumours that there will be multiple Nexus devices, so hopefully that is true.

The N5 is the perfect sized phone for me. I honestly don't know why it needs to be bigger. I guess there are markets for all sizes, but for one-handed-operation, this is as good as it gets for me

I've read elsewhere that the nexus 5 will get a small hardware bump and keep selling it. There really is no need to rebuild the Nexus 5 at this stage, it's hardly lacking. Makes sense if that's sold along side a phablet.

The N5 production as we know it has stopped awhile back so let's see how this works out. I don't think it would get a hardware bump although I love the shape and feel of it.

Think we will rather see 2 models of the N6 coming up rather than a bump in specs
