Doubt the Pre-Order price of Orange will change, the N5 goes up and down by 100 or so exchange rate Dependant...

The best thing about Nexus range devices here in South Africa vs other phones is they hold their value really well.

iPhones are the only other devices I have seen to keep value as much as a Nexus does.

Not surprising. I'd imagine it's going to follow exactly the same route as the Nexus 5.

Limited stock and waiting lists galore on the Play store but availing the shops or at Amazon etc for an inflated price.

Earlier this year when I was in the US they still had waiting times of a few weeks on the Play store for a $300 N5, but yet EVERY cell phone shop had them in stock for $500.

Same thing happening again.

And no one was buying outright. One guy in a shop said they were using the high prices to keep the contract prices higher.

The size is offputting to me at least. But I might change tune if I got to play with it a while and see. From videos it's enormous.
