Google Nexus One in SA

ROFL - no APN , oh no.

just like my HTC magic from the uk, it didnt have a pre defined APN either.
add -> APN Name (mtn) -> APN Value = internet .all other settings left as is not set.

i would never buy a phone from vodacom ( vodafone ) here in south africa. it will prop have limitations set on it like the HTC magic that was release here in SA and other counties around the world.

People with friends in the United Kingdom can therefore ask them to purchase the phone from Vodafone and ship it to South Africa.

That is not a very good solution. Really really ****ty way to go about it.

Here I was hoping the article would list a site or something or local company that was importing it. pft, bah.

never, has a phone excited me like this one. would love to get one.the phone is really well spec'ed.and the android platform is a cherry on top.

The "unlocked" Google Nexus One will retail for $529 – R3886 at an exchange rate of 1 USD = 7.34650 ZAR.

Not entirely true, as that price is before Tax. I purchased one and shipped to a friend who will hand carry it for me.

Worked out to exactly R 4,275.59- on my credit card statement. (on the 7th)
Tax is US$43.64

Probably depends on what State you shipping to?

Sounds like a non tech person wrote the article about the APN. Made it sound like a real obstacle. lol

where they planning on competing with the iPhone?
The first step is making it easy for the public to get their hands on the phone.

Situation sucks

Well I just started an online store to send nexus ones abroad. If any of you guys are dying for the phone I'll ship you one from where I am in Boston. I'll ship it to you at cost ($560 + $20 USPS shipping) if you help me out.

Send me a message me can work something out. If you can get someone to buy one from my store then it will be worth it for me.
