I sooooo want ALL these new phones that just keep getting churned out monthly!!! Problem is you pay like ZAR6k then a few weeks later your phone is old news - hmmm, come to think of it; I think I will just hold on to my old cheap fone.

Haha!

I just tried to order one just now and (as the article says), SA is excluded

What is even more frustrating is not the exclusion, but that we probably will hear Vodacom/MTN or whoever saying that they'll stock it, but at what price?

If it were possible to buy the Nexus via Google, you could probably get it delivered to your door for around R5-6k at the current exchange rate, shipping etc, but through Vodacom and the likes...who wants to bet that they won't sell it (cash) for under R10-14k+, or otherwise through some crappy Business Call package where you have to pay in R2500+ anyway? That's like...100% profit? Talk about milking the public like a jersey-cow...

Oh well, Ebay here we come... :(

Oh well, MyUS here we come... :)

So lets see, now its a toss up between the Google Nexus and the Motorolo Droid?

Which phone is going to top all of that by dumping the brand and being a simple Android phone?

I can think of a few. But, they all weird sounding.

I've used a US web proxy and got the "Order your phone" link, got all the way to the point where you can pick an engraving for your phone (signed in), and then I just get a blank page before I can pay :(

I have a valid UK postal address (their help page says you can ship to the UK), wonder what the issue is.

PS: Not a completely blank page, still has the headers and footers of the Google Phone site, just nothing in the main content area.

Not only will they charge you 10-14K, but if you go to MTN with a repair under warranty they will tell you, like with my Blackberry that only needs a trackball problem sorted out, that it will take 4 - 6 weeks to get it done.

Someone told me a few months back that MTN doesn't care a hoot about their clients. I have had four incidents with them in the past few months and all four didn't end well for me the client. I wouldn't dream of purchasing a Nexus from MTN.

you have a magic on the list instead of hero?

I just ordered my nexus one :) :)

Nice, now share how you did it!!!

I so want one and really can't be arsed to go through vodacom as it'll take half a year before they get it and then another year before they get stock.

pls pls share

i have to question the hype guys !!!

the Nexus One is made by HTC. It has the exact same specs as the new HTC Bravo.
Why get panicky that we wont get the Nexus here. Just get the Bravo. Same phone, same 2.1 android. Only difference will be the custom UI that google put on it, whereas you will get HTC's custom UI, doing all the same tasks and procedures with just diff looks. Not to mention HTC's very competitive prices here.

HTC BRAVO for me thank you

I ordered a premium proxy on a US server (comes with a 3 day trial free) from xroxy.com (u need to subscribe via paypal but its 0.00). Went to google.com/phone/ using the proxy so the get your phone link shows, placed the order and sent it to my UK forwarding address, you can purchase UK forwarding addresses online or as the guy said earlier I suppose you could even use myus.com

Schneaky. Let us know how that works out for you.

Any ideas when local networks will officially launch this phone? I know they're all ****, but I'd rather they supported my R4k phone :)

damn... i should have waited a bit longer.. I just got my hero 2 weeks ago...

The classic buyers remorse ...

worse even is that i was following the nexus during the run up to the launch...

in any case, i think a little self comfort is required

its a long wait to 2012...tick tock
