I have noticed something that seems to be happening in many locations from various different ADSL lines. When you search google in firefox (using toolbar) it seems to sit idle waiting for a reply. When you try and go to google.com again it doesnt always return the page.

When the page does load and you try to search its hit and miss.

I see using google.co.za helps sometimes, but otherwise google is pretty much useless in SA like this. Sometimes Google search page loads but when I click search nothing happens. This has happened to me from several different places.

I am getting so gatvol that I am switching Bing which works everytime.

Why is this happening, I love google and don't want to switch to Bing.

yes - I have the same problems, I thought maybe google had overstretched its capacity, even though I know that not really possible. I have a DSL384 + WA account.

On our wireless link at work google services work fine, weird.

No problems with google on my side, 3G & ADSL.

I have the same problem at work on our adsl line. Site loads, then you put in what you looking for and hit search, then nothing.. It idle's on the google main page.. Here at home i have no problem getting to google, by our internet at home has slowed down allot over the last few months for no reason..

Yes - same thing - and it is driving me UP THE WALL!!

All the Google services are affected - from search, through Gmail, apps & even Picasaweb. It is as if some requests "disappear" - possibly packet loss somewhere? It pretty much makes any Google service unusable!

It is also intermittent - sometimes things work brilliantly. Other times I can just as well give up...

If you are having this issue, would you please post your ISP? Maybe there is a common denominator there. (I'm with Cybersmart.)

When you search google in firefox (using toolbar) it seems to sit idle waiting for a reply.

I've noticed the exact same thing and was actually going to post a thread about it. It works when I try google.co.za, or even google.com (because for some reason it redirects me to .co.za. Also, sometimes when I search from the toolbar it tells me my request looks like it was generated by a bot. It hasn't happened for months now but it started again recently.

We've had a thread similar to this before. This seems to be a Firefox problem. Other browsers will most likely work fine.

I tested it with Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera. Only Firefox seemed to have problems.

Not a browser issue - I use Chrome (& have the problem in all browsers).

I've noticed that during some "outages" I struggle to do a lookup of Google addresses. All other names lookup fine. I wonder if this could be (yet another) DNS issue?

That's strange. I don't have the problem at all anymore since I started using Chrome.

I hope it gets fixed for you guys.

Same prob. Do2, Firefox 3.5, Mega 105WR router.

If I create a PPPoE connection however, I do not experience this issue.

I've found that if I downgrade my Netgear firmware (to version 1.5) the problem magically goes away. I only figured it out because I decided that my modem was broken, got an old netgear from a friend, used it fine for a few weeks, upgraded the firmware because it was old and then noticed the problem came back... downgrading the firmware again (on both modems) completely fixes the issue. I have NO idea what the actual problem is, just what to do to solve it.
