All the fuss about tweeting, texting, Facebook pokes and various other cutting-edge forms of communication can obscure the fact that old-fashioned telephone calls are still a pretty effective way of conveying information

And they still make money, as they can still bill you for the data usage. However, they lose out on phone revenue ... I suspect they will fight against this, at first. And yes, perhaps even implement blocks, where not legally prohibited. Would in any rate be interesting to follow.
