Gave it 3. It's not particularly revolutionary - I really miss the page-loading progress bar at the bottom. Firefox/IE in fullscreen looks much the same, plus Firefox hides the address bar!

How can they claim 1%? How many of us downloaded it, fired it up, played for an hour or so, then closed it down and went on with our happy (Firefox-driven) lives?

I think its now 3%. Im actually liking it... so Ill use it until I find a reason not to use it. Have not had any issues yet.. and I like how it handles crash`s. a real lot.

I can't use it at work - it refuses to load pages through our WebSense+everythingelse firewall/proxy solution, even though it asks for authentication details... I can't even get onto the login page for GMail (works fine in Firefox).

Everything works fine for me. Except gmail flies! Oh, and all my firmware browsing is also faster for some reason. I think I will try this browser out for a while still.

Had no problems so far, it lacks some features that I use often in firefox but I'm sticking to this browser for a while, I hope the OSX port is just as good.

I don't know - i quite like it. It's nice and quick. Only 2 things i don't like:

1) It's flash based *bleh*
2) It uses IE's proxy settings (at work we have a global policy that implements a company proxy on IE every time we connect, but i don't use it so i have to disable it every morning). Firefox uses it's own independent solution so this is a MUCH better feature.

It doesnt support RSS (or is it just me) and thats a big downer. I still like it though. Its soooo fast.

It's cute and fast.

But I miss the addon/extensions feature.

Things like adblock and the search engine bar.

I suppose I will give it a go once it's ported to Linux. But, I am very happy with FF, so it has quite a bit to live up to. There are three addons for FF that I find absolutely invaluable, AdBlock, MM3-ProxySwitch, and NoScript. There are a number of others, but those three are on top of the list.

Chrome is open source so the add-ons will come as developers start playing with it. It was only released this week so give it some time.

There's a lot of little things missing in the browser that you can get with Firefox but this is purely a beta release so it's no real surprise.

Well I tried it yesterday alongside IE and Safari and was not overly impressed, but at the same time was not used too its interface. The epiphany occurred to me when I realised what I had open and why.

I had iGoogle and Gmail open in IE, I had goggle docs open in Safari, had a couple of blogs open in Chrome and I was busy using the goggle toolbar in IE to spell check a forum post.

So I fired up GMail in Chrome, instant perfomance boost, so I opend Google docs and opend a new document. I have 2 screens so wanted to open the new doc on the main display, was about to select open in new window when I discovered I could drag the tab to the main screen and it detached from the old instance and created a new instance on the screen. I opened a second doc, dragged it and over to the new instance and had 2 docs in seperate tabs.

I opened a forum to make a post and found that my spelling was being automatical checked, no need to hit check in the google toolbar.
I completed the post set Chrome as my default browser, restarted windows and am about to uninstall safari, Firefox, ophra, just a pity IE is not removable :)

Really, really nice browser EXCEPT:

  • Having no ad-blocker is a big FAIL. I barely recognise all of my favourite websites with all the advertisements. Perhaps there will be support for third-party add-ins (such as Ad-blocker) at a later date...
  • Wont' run on Linux (yet). Hopefully the conversion won't take too long

Kudos to Google for updating the dodgy parts of the EULA so quickly.

I don't like the icon :p

Love the fact that you can resize text boxes and embedded spell checking...

I don't like the "Stop loading" button on the right - on a XUXGA screen it's just too far to move the mouse! Had that gripe since IE 7 as well.

Furthermore I miss the Firefox add-ins, especially better GMail (ironically enough).

But I am loving the speed increase (I didn't think it possible after FF 3) and the application icons for GMail / Calendar / Docs just work much better than FF+Google Gears.
