Google will stop Chrome users from using ad-blockers

Check the below registry entry. If the bold line is present no amount of fiddling has any effect. Deleting the bold line out of registry allows one again to be able to set a new page to be "about: blank"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\MicrosoftEdge\

Protected - It is a violation of Windows Policy to modify. See aka.ms/browserpolicy

This does not stop MS Edge in WIN 10 Home attempting to access the MS bing website but the access fails. Thereafter the new tabs are all blank. The process does not affect any changes you may have done regarding search engine selection.

Enabled Web Content, unfortunately, defaults to Bing and not to your chosen search engine.

Then make sure the below entry exist and is set correctly.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\MicrosoftEdge\ServiceUI

AllowWebContentOnNewTabPage DWORD

delete = Enable
0 = Disable

AllowSearchEngineCustomization DWORD

delete = Enable
0 = Disable

Goodbye Chrome, now using Brave
I am using Vivaldi myself, but the problem is, both these are still based on Chromium, which will be affected by manifest v3.

Thus far, both Brave and Vivaldi is only _monitoring_ the situation, without concrete confirmation that they will fork the engine to keep the functionality required. So it seems, so me too, will have to see what happen, but it doesn't look for the chromium based browsers.

I use the amazing Google Earth new tab page in Chrome, which shows a random full page Google Earth image every time you open a blank tab. The extension is made by Google. Try installing it on Chromium Edge to override the default behaviour. Not at my desk so can't try myself right now.
Also have that extension. Very awesome. But I'm seeing things did the 3rd time now so maybe time to get rid of it.
There is 1 Pic of a place in JHB. No other south African pics that I saw.

So mine can startup on my home page, but new tab always opens their own thing.

You can change that.

My gripe is the landing page when you open the browser, it has a search box that defaults to bing, I need it to go to google. The address bar is easy to change from bing to google.

There are enough images that I see repeats infrequently, and the reason to use the extension is for a beautiful new tab page anyway. It certainly accomplishes that imo - zero chance I'm removing it voluntarily.

In new Edge? How?

What about all those Chromium based browsers with built-in ad-blockers?

(Like Opera, Brave and Dissenter)

The start page is the part I can change easily.

The new Tab page seems impossible to change.

Same here. Got to watching YouTube the other day. No ads. Mind. Blown. Even with ad blockers on Chrome I always had ads on yt. I think I might be staying with Brave.

That should not have been possible. Were you using uBlock Origin in Chrome?

Yes. I have tried various adblockers over the years. None of them blocked 100% of ads on Youtube.
Then something is very wrong in your browser or your PC. Ads on YouTube do not escape uBlock Origin. Sounds like malware.
