Got my Lumia 710 this week

dont go windows mobile. Its complete garbage

I am not so sure hey.

I am kinda growing tired with an android UI that stutters like a total mofo on hardware that iOS and WP runs super smooth and fluid on. Sure I can go get a R8000 android phone with mainframe hardware to accommodate a smooth experience, but yeah... who knows maybe I will.

And now I read about apps and this and that, and I have already decided that I will be getting myself a MS surface, so this will fit in quite neatly methinks ?

HTC desire S. WP runs smoother on older hardware in the omnia 7.

The stock image is probably the worst of the lot in terms of stuttering, the nicest rom sofar was the ported One V ICS rom, and even there in some areas the UI lag is very noticeable.

Are people using a US Windows Live Account or SA one?
My Lumia 800 is currently on US one.

What the advantages and disadvantages of going US or SA? I know if you on US you can still buy and load vouchers to spend similarly to Apple and propbably get alot more apps, but missing out on local SA services?

It's safe to automatically disregard anyone who calls it Windows Mobile. If you can't get the name right - I highly doubt you are a good judge on an OS.

Unless you are using Zune streaming music, then migrate the account to SA.
Much less billing hassles, plus almost all of the apps are in S.A.
The only apps that arent in our market are ones that are IP blocked anyway (movie streaming etc).

Wow, thanks for this. I had read this app was coming, and it looks amazing. Just a pity it wasn't available all along.

As far as the 7.8 updates are concerned, I have received 2 updates since that announcement (in June). The last one added the tethering option (internet sharing) - which also looks pretty slick btw. But neither of these updates is the actual '7.8'. So it seems they are releasing the functionality piece-meal.

I agree. I really think WP7 is an awesome mobile OS and developing applications for mobile devices has really never been easier.

Thing is people at stores are already anti WP.
Most stores I've seen people say soema first time... pfft the Lumia is crap.... I ask have you used the phone atleast? Nope... -_-
I've even seen people come in to ask about a Windows Phone and immediately the sales guy would say why don't you rather get a android phone, it's much better.

Such a pity that cellphone sales people keep perpetuating their own stereotype.
