Got My N73 !

I took it in a hurry when I got home yesterday. Will try and get a clearer shot when I get home just now.

so I'm struggling between these three as well..... n73 is looking good as the $$$ make a difference to me....

One question I need answered is battery life ..... I had a d900 for two weeks it sucked battery would be dead dead dead in less than a day.

Someone with a n73 post your average time, someone with a n80 post your batteries average time and some1 with a ericson k800 post your time

N80 I get about 3 days with average use and about a day with heavy use (using camera, music player, wifi etc. all the time).

If you're not using the internet much, maybe switch to GSM only mode in network settings and see if it lasts longer.
 
initial battery charge cycle

Fianlly moved on from my 6680. The first thing that strikes me about my new N73 is the wonderful large screen and clarity of print on the background colour. Not sure yet about the joystick - preferred the 6680 arrangement. Question: I was instructed to let the phone battery run down, then allow it to charge for 16 hours. Took about 36 hours to run down (moderate usage). Battery showed fully charged about about +- 4 hours on the charger. Is it necessary to continue thereafter? Instruction type articles I read all said battery should be charged for long period to start with. But scanning various forums, the advice varied. Knowledge and experience from this forum?
 
I heard from some real cell specialists that in this day and age the rundown of the batteries is not required anymore.
Tech for batteries have also evolved, hence not the requirement anymore.

The 16 hour initial charge is not required, it's just a myth. The manual usually says 2 discharge cycles, implying that you charge it until it's full then use the phone until the battery is completly dead. Then recharge again and repeat the cycle twice.
 
The alarm application does not repeat, so you have to set it every night to wake you up in the morning.

Just a dirty work around for that. Go into calendar, set up a new meeting. Set the alarm and you will see a "Repeat" option. Pick daily [or whatever interval you like] . You can then set a start and end date (i.e. for the next month) and then it will populate that "meeting" onto the calendar based on your interval ....and there you have a repeating alarm ;)
 
I was the proud new owner of an N73 with Vlive branding up until about 2 hrs ago when I found out that Mxit and most other java apps with the .jar extension do not work. A firmware update seems to be required to fix this but unsuprisingly there is no Vlive firmware update on the Nokia Software Updater. Tomorrow I have to go all the way back to Vodaworld and try to sort this out. My advice to anyone is not to get this phone, or better yet change to MTN while they still sell you phones that aren't stuffed up.

EDIT: Ok I am happy again, I just had to hard reset the phone and all is working fine now, you may ignore my previous rant although i still dislike Vlive. :)

Battery life

using the phown for work purposes i take 50 pics or so a day and get 2 days battery life, weekends with some 3G surfing i get 3 days and a bit.. with no surfing i'd probably get 4 days i think ;)

p.s. its an N73
