Got my replacement Samsung Omnia from italk

Ok, can't use USB to connect to both the onboard 8G storage nor the Micro SD card. When I put the Micro SD into a card reader, my pc won't pick it up but it can be picked up by the Omnia and Garmin was working properly on it......I formatted both the card and the Storage still same problem, flashed two different ROMs, same problem............

Looks like it was a good idea to wait for the Xperia. I almost took the Omnia.

3G Reception gone again........:(

But when I was in North West visiting rural hospitals last week I don't have any problem with signals, but my colleagues with Vodacom/CellC had problem with no reception at one of the place we stayed.

I think the problem is the amount of 3G towers that we have. The signals are most probably conflicting with each other.

This same thing happened to me, there were two "seal" stickers on top of each other. However in order to see this you have to look very very closely and thats what worried me! Whoever put the stickers on, went to the enth degree to make it look as legit as possible! made me feel a bit suspicious especially since the front of the phone had a small (but noticeable scratch on as well! But after waiting over a month I took the phone nonetheless. I'm happy to say I haven't had a problem with it yet!

Great, italk emailed me yesterday and tell me I need to contact/visit their JHB office so they can show me how to access. Like I don't know what I am doing....

cyberarmy, did you manage to get a firmware update for your phone?

Samsung Omnia

Hi
I have an omnia on a MTN contract. The problem with my omnia is sometimes it does not come back on when it has hibernated itself and needs to be reset to get the phone to come on again. The firware I have is the following i900JCHH1\JCHH1. Please can somebody tell me if anyone has had this problem and if updating the firmware might fix this it. A colleague of mine has an omnia as well but his is from VODAFONE and he does not have the same problem.
Regards

Mine is also from Vodacom but I use it on MTN. I don't have that problem either.

What's the status on the Omnia with iTalk?

It's working but I still can't sync it with computer nor use it as mass storage, will flash the phone when I have time, otherwise everything else is fine with the phone.

I also have JCHH1, without this problem. Perhaps try to remove some recently installed apps, and maybe consider a hard reset. At least you'll know that way if its software related or not.

You can say that again. I should put it this way:

It was a good idea to test the Xperia, now I know that the Omnia is better.:D

I'm glad for you :) I'm actually looking to get a new phone maybe next month. I so want to get the X1 but it's a bit expensive at the moment. I really like the looks of the Touch Diamond and the reviews look promising but I'm a little put off by the fact that it's only got 4gb storage.

I've also been looking at the Omnia which, I must admit, seems like a lot of bang for the buck, but having had bad experiences with Samsung phones, I'm a bit weary to give the Omnia a go...

I don't know what to do!

Well, you have 7 days from signing the contract to use the phone and replace it with something else if there is anything wrong with it.

That's why the first 7 days of every phone I get is like hell for the phone. I give is some real testing and a very hard time.

If it lasts then I keep it, if it doesn't, I take it back.

Good idea, but who likes to be in and out of cell shops just to find a phone that works?

Another thing: How do you find the responsiveness of the Omnia? I've seen numerous video clips of the phone in action, and it looks slooooowwww! ;)

Not slow at all. That 624mhz CPU really works great. I might be wrong but I think that is the fastest CPU in a Mobile Phone up to date. (If I'm wrong please don't shoot me:rolleyes:)

I am running Manilla 2D on my Omnia. Almost exact same UI as the Diamond and when I scroll across the icons it is FAAAASSSSTTTT!!!!!

COOL! I really like the looks of Diamond's interface and I really like the look of the Omnia hardware, so that sounds like a good combination then :D

How easy is it to change stuff like the interface etc.? I don't want to mess up my phone (if I get one, that is!)
