Went to iStore just now and they sold the iMac I asked them to keep for me (only had one entry level machine). So after some soul searching settled on the 20inch iMac 2.4ghz.
Busy using it now - got to do some setting up - will try the migration wizard from the Macbook but its Leopard and the iMac is Tiger - will there be any issue?

LOL - first time I had to revert to the manual to find the power switch :o

Aye but its nice... :D

Aye...but I'm envying you right now! I will prob get an iMac next year sometime...but wow - just loving this mac eperience...so pretty and it just works so well!

This thing is great - can't decide if I should put Leopard on now or rather wait for the next upgrade (10.5.2)

EDIT: now I remember - I want to load windowz for the kids games..

Mine was already over budget. :o

Interesting - I can boot a Tiger install on the iMac via a firewire drive that was created with the Macbook - boots up fine with no problems - I want to see a Win machine do that....!

Its one of the bonuses you get when the hardware manufacturer also makes the OS. :)

What do you do with an iMac?

Dude - You just made my day! :D

@adsl3g
How much did that shiny baby cost you?
How is it? Stable? Recommended for a person that "Does not know where the power button resides on a PC"? Got any BSOD's thus far? :p

I paid the ZA Store price - they gave me discount as they sold their last entry level the night before. I was in 2 minds as to which one to get anyway so the decision was made for me.. :o

No lockups or freezes or BSOD's. Did a clean Leopard install (the machine comes with Tiger 10.4.10 and a Leopard DVD) and reloaded iLife 08.

AS for recommendation - Of course I recommend it. I am not technologically disabled so it is difficult to say how a new user will find it - I have been using a Macbook since January and the cross over from Windows was painless for me. That said, what I do find very pleasing with OSX is the bootup time - very quick.

I have increased the memory to 2gb at this stage by pinching one of the 1 gb sodimms from the Macbook - will get a 2gb sodimm next week to up the memory to 3gb and return the 1gb to the Macbook.
