I have a gprs modem that connects to the Vodacom network. I am using a data card. The modem has been connecting well for the last month, but suddenly I am receiving authentication errors. This is what I get:

[SMTP] port=25
[SMTP] [email protected]
[SMTP] authentype=2
[SMTP] connect to host: smtp.vodacom.co.za:25
[WIP] new TCPCLIENT 0x180d3920
[SMTP] Create: created session 0x180d3660 664, socket= 0x180d3920
Session wip_getOpts(): connect smtp.vodacom.co.za:25, [email protected] P=xxxxxx, 2
[SMTP] CnxEventHandler TCPsock: 2
[SMTP] CnxEventHandler TCPsock: 6

[SMTP] CnxEventHandler TCPsock: 5

[SMTP] WriteHandler: TxState=3

[SMTP] CnxEventHandler TCPsock: 5
[SMTP] ReadHandler[IN]: TxState=3
[SMTP] read[41]: 502 5.5.2 Error: command not recognized[SMTP] GetStatusCode: code=502
[SMTP]=>AUTH LOGIN failed Status=502 !!
[ERROR SMTP]: 502

SMTP Error...

SMTP channel closed (2)...
[WIP] closing SMTP_CONTROL 0x180d3660
[SMTP] WriteHandler: TxState=16
[SMTP<=] QUIT
[WIP] closing TCPCLIENT 0x180d3920

What is causing this and how do I correct it?

Is there a method that I can adopt that will:
* Vodacom knows that my SIM is trying to connect
* If the connection fails, Vodacom sends me a notification, either via e-mail or SMS to a designated SIM

Does a third party offer such a service?
Should I be subscribing to a third party and connect via them?
I need 100% connection!

Is there someone in the Cape Town area I can consult with to resolve this?

Thanks in advance

Hi

This is an smtp(email) authentication problem and not a GPRS problem.

[SMTP] port=25
[SMTP] [email protected]
[SMTP] authentype=2
[SMTP] connect to host: smtp.vodacom.co.za:25

Is the above highlighted in red a typo or are you using that SMTP ?

I just noticed, for Vodamail he doesnt need to use any Authentication for the Outgoing.

TimTDP, try removing the Authentication from the SMTP and try again.

The above is a screen dump of what appeared on the monitor, so I assume that we are using that SMTP

I am also concerned because the application has / settings have worked for the last 2 months until earlier this week.
Why is the smtp setting suddenly a problem?
What has changed?

Hi

That is wrong it has to be smtp.vodamail.co.za

EDIT:

Did you check the pass as well is it the same , pm me the pass and i`ll check
