GPS settings

Need some help PLEASE!
Got myself the Tom Tom navigation for iphone on Friday(very nice by the way).
Only problem is that my GPS seems to stay on now where before it did not.

The purple arrow now stays on all the time even if i close Tom Tom,can i leave it like that and how will it affect battery life.I cant seem to find a setting on phone to disable the GPS.

Any advice guys.

Are you running OS 4 or higher?

Latest OS.Updated last week,but only after i installed Tom Tom does the GPS arrow now stay on.
Battery is still fine,dont notice it going flat faster.Thing is just i dont know if its fine with GPS running all the time.

Aren't you just experiencing expected multitasking behavior?

Nope found the problem!
It was Google Latitude,program runs GPS all the time to share your location with friends.
Just disabled it and everything is normal again.
