Hi guys,

Since my previous watch got redistributed and doctors orders to look into my health, I am looking to get myself a gps watch.
My requirements are the following:
- Heart rate monitor
- GPS (obviously)
- Ability to use when playing golf
- Daily fitness tracking (steps, sleep, etc)
- Good Battery life

If money was no object, I would love to get a Fenix 5x. But I am sure that it is overkill for my purposes.

From my research, I have narrowed it down to the Garmin Approach s60, Garmin Vivoactive 3 HR, Garmin Fenix 3 or Fenix 5/5x.

Can someone maybe provide some feedback/suggestions/considerations?

Reviews for each watch looks great, but I am struggling to determine which way to go. As mentioned, I don't want to spend R10-12k if something for R6k will do.

To add, my fitness activities will be limited to gym, outdoors with the little ones and playing golf.

There is a specific Garmin model that allows you to install native "apps".

A friend was using the squash app to count points for example, I thought that was pretty cool.

Then the watch can evolve with the introduction of new apps for different purposes.

My Polar M400 doesn't do anything fancy like that, its pretty limited in terms of customisation.

Looks like only the Approach is not enabled for App's:

I bought a Garmin Fenix 3HR from take a lot a month back. (Difficult to get them new after the Fenix 5 came out). Before I bought, did PLENTY of research. My opinion, Fenix 3 is super awesome. Mostly use it for paddling. And there's a schit load of extra apps to download. Battery lasts very long. :D

TomTom Runner / Spark 3 (Cardio) is the best bang for buck. Great battery life, accurate on-wrist HR sensor, and recently (via software update) VO2max sensor, sleep tracker and step counter. I've had the older Multisport model for a few years now, and my fiance has the Spark 3. Both very happy.
