Hi Folks,

My colleague is travelling to the US in October. I am thinking about buying the Apple watch 9 for my wife. Will buy online and deliver to his hotel.

Wanted to find out, any issue with bringing in a watch, if its just GPS only? Anything else i should be worried about?

Thank you

I am speaking under correction here so anybody is welcome to correct me, but I would reckon the following - when he arrives back in SA, he could go through customs with “nothing to declare” and not get stopped, but if they do stop him randomly and find the sealed watch, he might be forced to pay VAT and import duty on it.

To avoid the above he could take the watch and charger out of the packaging, discard the latter and just keep it loose in his luggage

On the same page - i wouldnt expect him to keep it in the box

Just follow the green line saying you have nothing to declare and Bob’s your uncle.
