Did you gus see the new AMD Polaris, the RX 480 will come in @ 200$ and be in the same league as the 980TI and R9 390X

Straight 980, not the 980ti. But basically makes everything below the 980ti obsolete, for $199. It also beat the 1080 in Crossfire in the Ashes DX12 test.

If you game at 1440p or lower, it's almost certain the RX 480 is going to provide the best performance per dollar \ Rand at the prices we're being promised...I see the earlier posts saying the prices of 980's are dropping from suppliers. It's likely there will be a premium on the RX 480 at launch...I'd wait a month or so and see which one looks good.

Useless test and zero confirmation on that from anybody outside amd.
Same as saying how great nVidia is at running Gameworks titles, I guess? Was just conveying what was shown at the press event - it's pretty obvious the card hasn't been independently tested yet, but thanks for pointing that out anyway.

Even the 980TI is obsolete, unless they drop the prices drastically. the 980TI is priced the same as the 1080, Now who in their right mind will buy a 980TI for the same price?.
RIP to The Titan, Fury X, R9 390, 390X, 380, 380X, 980TI, 980, 970 and even 960

It is basically bye bye to the entire market until the new cards come out. They are a massive step up in terms of power and efficiency.

I've been anxiously awaiting the 1080 for some time now, and it's taken some restraint not to just order the first one that became available.

I'm happier for it though. AIB partners are starting to show off their cards now, which are notably better than the FE cards (thermals leading to throttling) and if we aren't heckled in SA, should be cheaper based on RRPs.

It's hard to say what a person should choose though, especially when there are no independent benchmarks floating around for Polaris based cards yet, but on "expected" results my upgrade choice would be : Gtx1080 > Gtx1070 > RX 480. And in that, it largely depends on where you are looking budget-wise as I don't believe any of those cards would be a 'bad decision'.

At $199 for entry into the new generation cards, I don't see why it would be worth waiting for a deal on older cards, again unless your budget dictates otherwise.

In the SA market that is a likely possibility to ramp up the RX 480’s entry price point. The last thing that I want to see are local retailers going up against the used goods market… Not only is the RX 480 the best FPS/$ it is also probably the best W/$ meaning that the requirements to run the card are less, less expensive and greener.

I do not see how any previous generation GPUs will have ‘reasonable’ price drops… What I do see down the line is NVidia introducing a 1060 and then to position their 1070 and 1080 in an more accommodating price bracket to suite the market, what they have now can be seen as an early adoption. By then we may also see Vega being announced in or around October, I hope this is the case.

Now AMD needs something to make Intel climb down the pedestal. It is good to see competitive pricing, especially under the current market conditions.

So the 1070 was finally released - now just waiting for a place like takeAlot to get stock. Have like R2000 worth of eBucks.

Yeah the 1070 is looking amazing. Wonder how much i could get for my 970 :P

I was looking at dropping 9k on a 1070 asap... instead dropped 5k on a new CPU and mobo and suddenly my 970 has some new life in it.

Ill shelve my gfx card upgrade till next year some time, 970 is still good.
