GPU Value Comparisons

These reference cards have really ****ty coolers hence the high thermals & dropping of frequencies.

I would not touch these reference cards due to thermals & power usage with only 1x 6-pin connector.
Fake plastic screws.... bwahaha

Made the jump for a G1 gaming Gtx1070

Card is a beast ,battlefield 4 maxed out on 1080p gave me around 130-170fps

Get a i7 ,my i5 seems to bottle neck

When playing battlefield my ram is at 60% gpu 50-70% then cpu 89-100%

That's an easy problem to solve...speed up the CPU or turn up the graphics quality :)

Is your CPU at the stock 3.3Ghz?

i5 2500k at 4ghz clocked, every game seems to use the cpu heavy and the rest isn't used much

at 1080p

The 2500k is getting a bit old now, recall seeing a digital foundry vid or two where it's compared to a modern i3-6100.

The problem is the cpu can no longer feed the gpu fast enough and this is more noticeable at 1080p or lower.

Try this, in nvidia control panel enable DSR for your games at 2560x1440 res. The gpu will process things at the higher res and then downscale it to 1080p. In-game disable AA or turn it down as it will be less of a requirement seeing the frames were processed at a higher res thus compensating for AA. Let us know how it pans out.

If you have not already done so also OC your ram, it definitely helps in some games.

i got a 3770k for a good price so will just get that to help out the 1070 :p shouldn't bottle neck the card

Bit the bullet and purchased a G1 1070 from GTX Gaming.

Currently have a Full HD IPS 23" Monitor. I feel the need to upgrade it now :o

Suggestions? Budget is 6k. Can stretch it to 7k.

Besides Wootware,Rebeltech,Loot,Raru & Takealot - are there any other reputable online stores?

Thanks!

^ What are you wanting? 1080p 144hz screen? I'm wanting that in 27" size for a reasonable price but haven't seen anything :)

I am building a new gaming machine for a friend, he is currently using Nvidia gforce 650, but he will upgrade to the 950 in the near future.
can you guys recommend a power supply?
i see the AeroCool STRIKE-X 800W Power Supply from Esquire but i think it's a bit of an overkill?

Get a qnix qx2710. You'll have to import it from ebay, but it's a 1440p overclockable monitor and it cost me R4500 inc. shipping & taxes. Couldn't be happier.

Hi guys.

Looking for a new GPU. Mainly for Battlefield 1.

My setup that I dont plan on upgrading:
i5 4670k
8GB ram
SSD
1920x1200 dell

Currently have a R9 270k so I want a quite a significant upgrade. Want to play the game 60+ FPS on high.

Looks like its a toss up between 1060, 480x and maybe 1070 (probably overkill).

Anyone with experience on the matter?

B

If that's a 60fps monitor then anything more than a 1060 is overkill.

Battlefield 1 doesn't seem to take any advantage of DX12 (at the moment) so the 1060 is an easy recommendation.
