Graeme Smith to divorce

It is a pretty sad topic if you think about it so we make dick jokes instead. It's how us white people roll.

I never could forgive him for forcing Lance Klusener out of the side when he became captain so he could turn the Proteas into his own little tree house club of Superfriends. I still remember the World Cup Klusener almost won single handedly while the rest of the team were diving for the bookies.

THIS!

Was mentioned on DSTV today that he's considering returning to the game.

The problem with Biff was that he had absolutely rotten technique. For a guy of his strength, reactions, eyesight and ball skills this wasn't a problem when he was young but now that he has slowed down with age and the bowlers have figured him out, he just can't cope with high class cricket. Towards the end of his career he was just awful.

Agree. Very ugly player to watch. Had the grace of a 16th century woodcutter.

11 years of Gary Kirsten, and 18 years of Jacques Kallis, yet guys are this scathing of Graeme Smith? Wow! I didn't think we were that spoilt for aesthetic riches. Some romantics might have committed suicide but for the presence of a certain Gibbs to put us out of a misery from time to time.

No idea what the last part of your message meant, but I agree Smith is being criticised way to much, he was never the best ODI batsman, put in Test's he was pure class.
In either format, I believe he should no longer open, but he will be very valuable batting at 5.

What about Kallis' batting wasn't beautiful? It was like cricketing poetry in motion watching him bat. And I have nothing against any of those 3.

No no no man. That phrase can only be used to describe Jimmy Anderson or Wasim bowling at their best! Lara if you want to talk batting.

I once watched a game between Zimbabwe & South Africa http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63949.html. While playing well Kallis looked half the player Andy Flower was. Kallis is great yes, just like Sachin. But their moments of classy innings are rather isolated. Even in careers that span several years and multiple games. I've fallen asleep a number of time while watching Kallis(&Sachin) bat.

Fair enough some might want to blame Kirsten(&Dravid), but in other partnerships too. No Kallis was good, like a Faf/JP, but not your Amla/AB type of class.

+1. Couldn't agree more.

Are you serious? Make no mistake, I always felt that Andy Flower would walk into the SA team, but to say Kallis was good like Faf and JP? Some serious stuff you are smoking there.

During the same match Kallis had the small matter of 30+ overs to contribute which included 3 wickets.

Don't be silly man :). I meant when you have Amla&AB in your team, figuratively, JK becomes a Faf/JP player compared to them. Context boet, context.

Yeah and I wonder how many overs Flower spent at the crease - batting&keeping.... close to 300?

Fair comment.

Don't be nasty to one of my all-time favourite players.

Zim team of the late 90s was a pretty awesome team though.

You are ****ting me.

On 702 they kept on announcing that they going to have Smith on but only for cricket and not the divorce.

Seriously pathetic from 702 forewarning callers not to ask about the split.

Why do people need to know anyway?

People are too bored or unhappy with their own lives and so want to know about everyone else's.

On the flip side, people have become attention whores and feel the need to share their lives with the whole world. If you don't fit into one of those 2 categories you are weird, or have some deep dark secret...apparently
