Grand Theft Auto 6

Nothing beats physical editions of GTA with its posters and foldout maps which I've always laminated. And even just the cool boxart itself. :)

GTA San Andreas was the best with it's hardcover travel guide. Mine is still in near perfect condition.

Counter point.

In the past 20 years, I worked and lived in several countries. I do not have a single physical box/game that I bought as I always had to cut my losses to save cost on travel.

Simultaneously, I still have access to all the digital copies I bought over the years.

I lost my entire Xbox 360 collection as I used to only buy them physically (Had a Xbox 360 Arcade).
PS3 digital library on the other hand is still about 100+ games strong.

Im sure it was Midnight, I remember going to a BT games late at night to pick up my preorder.
My local btgames opened at 6am instead of its usual 9am or whatever, just for GTAV. And I remember only those who preordered were allowed to get their copies. The peasants who didn't preorder had to wait another week or so.

I'm sure my local btgames had a midnight thing too but I'm not one of those guys who would do stuff like that.

GTAV was also the last game I ever preordered. Not gonna preorder VI.

I'm a sucker for GTA. When 5 came out, I got the disc on 360. Then when the upgrade for next gen came out, I got a digital copy for PS4. Then when the upgrade for current gen came out, I got a digital copy on Series X.

If Rockstar wants my money, they're probably gonna get it... :(

Ok I do have that one digitally on Steam, PS3, PS5 and Xbox One.

Bought the "remaster" on PS5 only cause it was cheap on release.

Only reason I have it on so many is cause of the lack of cross-play

Edit: Something I hope they do this time round, hell even cross-save would rock.

Online is going to be a grindfest of note, only to encourage shark card purchases.

I'm so behind on GTAV's multiplayer because the economy is wack.

My main concern with GTA 6 is the balance between a single player story and the online part. GTA 5 online has been so successful at printing money for Rockstar I worry they may focus more on that at the expense of single player.

I have zero interest in the online bit. If they put in the same effort as they usually do for single player then I'l be happy

Yeah highly doubtful that it wil release on previous gen, heck I have a feeling current Gen wil struggle to keep up.

It would be stupid to ignore the ~180m previous gen consoles that were shipped. There are more PS4 users on PSN than PS5. I can't see the shareholders being happy about missing out on that piece of the pie.

They will eventually move. It's about sales over the life of the product, not immediate sales. Shareholders will get that.

They're also probably reluctant to build for a game of this scale/capability on old hardware. Lest you end up with another Cyberpunk. People need to move on from their dinosaurs now...

It really depends if its feasible to do without sacrificing too much.

I don't feel like it's going to happen, by the time the game does release we'll likely be 4 years into the current generation.

There is no way this game comes out on PS4 imo, the thing is 10 years old by now. If history is anything to go by they will continue to sell it until the PS7 is out anyway

Red Dead Redemption 2 works great on the PS4 and its a heavy game. I'm sure Rockstar can make it work if they wanted to.

It looks great on the PS4 because they didn't also release it for the PS3...same thing applies now
But the PS3 was proper dead by 2018. PS4 is still getting title releases, and I imagine that will still be the case when GTA 6 lands.

You can get a 2nd hand PS5 for like 8-9k with controllers and games these days, start saving!

I'm sure the single player game will be huge. And if the rumours are to be believed they are planning single player dlc as well.

I too have zero interest in any online content. Single player only for me.

Would be great if Rockstar could at least focus on single player for a couple of years and then online for the rest of the time until GTA7 in 2069.

Also remember that last gen adds 4 additional builds of the game they need to maintain too. I really don't think it's going to happen. By the time it releases you'll easily be able to get a second hand PS5 for a decent price.

The second-hand market will also grow once the new slimmer model drops.

I for one, am really thinking about it.
