Grand Theft Auto 6

They will make sure to release it before PS6/Xbox Next, so that they can re-sell the upgraded version when the new consoles release at full price and then a couple of years later they'll re-release it again with "new" visuals and/or features.

And just to f with players, they will separate PS5 & PS6 online modes again.

Rockstar are clearly very proud to show off hair physics in both trailers now, so you can be sure that this is the hair we can expect to see in the game:

Remember, we're talking about a budget of something like $2billion here. They have the money to give us hair like that.

Odds are high that's just a Houdini simulation they export to the engine to render there, don't get your hopes up too high.

That's not to say they can't do it, but hair is expensive and a small detail, especially if you want the whole world to look great.

I am confident that is what hair will actually look like. If you look at the first trailers for GTA4 and 5, what you saw in the trailers is what the games looked like in the end. GTA6 will be no different imo.

Even the little hairs you see on arms in those screenshots @prod posted will be in the game.

Hair isn't a small detail btw. Not in a game like GTA where customization is a massive part of the game. And Rockstar is very well known to put a lot of time and effort into every detail, no matter how small.

Thoughts and prayers for us pc players :(

I wonder what the chances are that Rockstar will release the pc version along with consoles lol...

We'll probably have to wait till 2027 at least.

Yeah it sucks that instead of 4K/120 on my PC I’ll have to settle for 1440p/30 on my PS5 but that’s life. Will def double dip when the PC version comes out.

No way it cost 2 billion. Around 500 mill max.
Yeah it did. What makes you think it didn't.

I will let you in on a little secret, second to man power in costs, 3D assets, textures and animation, sound, writing and AI. For MMO and open world games especially server back-end costs can spiral out of control quickly. And for a game like GTA, lots and lots of licenses especially music, used in the game.

Average team size for mmo/open world is up to 300 people. Average salary 114 000 A year, game has been in the works since 2018, that is around 250 million just in labor costs and that is so far by the end it will be closer to 300 million in labor costs, and that is just the average, doesn't take into account, team leads, senior staff nor management. It is probably closer to 400 million mark

Average cost of a 3D asset is $50 - $500 (characters up to 5000)
Average cost of a 3D texture $50 - $500 (high detail textures up to 5000)

There is thousands of assets in a game. You do the math, production costs are insane.
That can easily amount to 250 - 300 million.

The development team has a marketing budget as well. 150 million for GTA 5, and that was several years ago, that is closer to double now.

Music licensing GTA 5 has around 440 tracks around 3.5 million, then you have to edit and produce the radio stations as well.

Then you have indirect expenditures
Development hardware.
Internal tool development
Server and network storage
Rent
General office equipment
And general expenditures. (water, lights and other daily stuff)

So yeah 2b isn't even remotely as far fetch as they make it out to be

You forgot Marketing and most expensive of them all, car licenses, you need to pay OEMs to have em Proche/Ford/Ducati models in your game.

Sorry, don't play GTA, just saw screenshots and did see some known cars in em.
No worries, I think they model their cars very close to existing real-life cars but they give them different names in game.

Yeah GTA doesn't have any official licensed cars. I did include marketing. GTA 5 was 150 million I said it would be about double now several years later.
