Grandparents. Eish!

Having read through this entire thread so far, I have one question. Why not invite the grandparents to stay with you for a night or two? If they want to be involved, then they need to be willing to play by your rules. That way it does not mess with your routine and your daughter gets the best of both worlds while being comfortable in her own home.

It all depends what she is like when she returns home, after being with the grandparents. If she behaves different towards you, stop her from going too often.
Grandparents like to spoil the little ones.

We often stay together, we do a family holiday once a year with them for a week. They get all those things, besides the long weekends up on the farm. As for them staying in our house, that would never happen just so they could spend time with her. Grandpa wouldn't dream of putting himself t a disadvantage by sleeping in my house. He is a very proud man. The rules part is the biggest issue. That is why I think they want to take her away for the four days. To get away from our rules.

I agree, she is going through a cheeky stage now, which they just love and encourage because its cute and funny. Sometimes its hilarious. I want to crack at something she just said to me but I can't. THATS the hard part. Choosing whats best for her over whats fun at that moment.

Sometimes it is worth laughing about tho:
She caught me out the other day... As I walked past my wife I casually grabed her bum as I passed.
My daughter saw what I did and stood in front of me, pointed her finger up at me and said "DAD! YOU MAY NOT GRAB MOMMY"S BUM!". :o.
I humbly apologised to my laughing wife for grabing her while my daughter muttered something about "next time you'll go to the corner". :D:D

I also wish my grandparents were in the position and were willing to take the little one off our hands for a few days.

Tell them that as she grows older they can spend more time with her, for now a night or two is about it.

Would going on something like this not make her more adjustable and accepting to certain events like the first day of school? Instead of over protecting the child this may be an opportunity for the child to learn to adjust without parentals being there.

Events like this develop a child into the adult they become. This could instill or remove fears.

Hans release the sharks! :p

I agree to an extent but if the kid isn't happy after two day being away for 4 is not cool.. Also Im no child child psychologist but im sure small steps at age three is required :)

I had 3 sets of grandparents. Sometimes I loved going and it was fun but I disliked most of the time too. And old people smell funny!!

She already attends school 5 days a week from 8 untill 1. She has been going for 2 years (at the end of this one).
