I have a nVidia 8500 graphic card, which I had since in August 2008.

This afternoon, while I was in the middle of a game, I just had a random Bluescreen. When I switched the pc back on, there was all sort of strange lines upon the Bios and boot screen (Windows 7) and as soon as the welcome screen comes up, I just get the bluescreen again.

So, I removed the Graphic Card and plugged the monitor in my onboard vga port and it runs perfectly (except the fact that I cant even bother to run any games.)

So just to confirm, do you think it is the graphic card or might it be the PCI ports on the motherboard.

Thanks

Best thing to do is try that card in a friends PC.

i say its the card... dont bother putting your mates PC at risk, might fry something? exact same thing happened to a mate, then stuck the fried card into another PC to test the card and proceeded to fry his mobo... haha!

pick up the card, open the window, throw it outside the window, close window, logon to prophecy ;)

unless you have warranty on it of course...

I'm thinking of Getting the nVidia GTS250 (1gb) or Radeon 5670 (1gb). They are more or less the same price.

There is a GTS250 Gigabyte version and Leadtek. The two cards are exactly the same (in features and power) but have a R300 price difference.

How does the Radeon 5760 (1gb) compare to the GTS250?

Thanks

The GTS250 is faster but more expensive. Normally the HD4850 was the best buy in that segment but they are being phased out and being replaced by the HD5750 (which is more expensive than the GTS250). Whatever card you get now will be a huge improvement over the 8500GT.

I found the HD5770 on The Prophecy Shop site for a pretty reasonable price.
I have never purchased on Prophecy and just want to make sure, how reliable they are with their shipping and delivery time, along with the brand Club 3D that makes this card?

Thanks

Club 3d is fine and prophecy is extremely reliable. I've used them plenty times before.

Depends on the brand. Generally the better the warranty/after sales support, the more you pay.

Asus and Gigabyte = 3yr

Not so sure on the others.

Wow, then I can actually get my current card replaced or something. Is it still under warranty after 3 years, from Rectron?
