Graphic Design tIp for Novice

I have a image that ia company logo with a gradient in it has been copied from doc to doc and messed with and has landed up looking more pink than red... how would i change the shading of logo to increase the riches ness making it proper red ? and what program should I use I have been using GIMp

I'd vectorise the whole thing then redo the shading.

Been using Gimp , and have downloaded ink scape but clueless on how to use the later.. but getting by on a hit and miss strategy

CorelDraw or similar... Just redo the whole thing as vector and have it proper right from the start.

flip I dont know gimp, but in photoshop you can use the image>adjustments>hue and saturation.... just look for the equivalent in gimp

if you would like to convert it to vector in inkscape, import the image into gimp, select it, then use the path>trace bitmap option- you will have to just play around with the settings

Photoshop wont give u such a good quility logo u will have jagged edges that is not suitable for a logo rather do what wheaunis suggested try corel if u cant try illustrator it will be your best bet
