Good day.

So I'm almost sure that my card is dying. While I'm playing the screen would flash all different colours and then freeze. Already tried formatting and latest drivers.

So what card would you recommend I replace it with to get the same speed? The card is a nvidia 8800gts 512mb.

Thanks

1st make sure it has no warranty left. (ASUS, Gigabyte and a couple of other brands have 3 year warranties)

Then, if that's not working, you should be fine with the 9800GT+, which is around R900.
I have to say though, I'd rather buy an ATi 5770 for around R1300, WAY more bang for buck.

way more powerful plus it has DirectX 11 support

Thank goodness :) I thought I would have to fork out thousands to get the same power as my current 8800

Shows you how I've been keeping up with the latest tech :D

Do you know where I can get the 5770 for that price of R1300

Don't know where Frag got his price but http://www.jump.co.za/search/5770/order__p/page__2/ cheapest is R1399, try all the well known hardware websites

I'm in the same boat, looking for a 5770. I saw one for R1600 at prophecy, now its sold out :(
The other ones are R2000. Think I'm going to wait a bit..

Make sure to get the 1GB version.

if you have an sli board go with two 9600GT's (R700 / pop ) and clock them both to a Ghz. im cranking waaaay more than one 5770.

I bought a Force3D 4850, worked perfect for the 2 years I had it (sold the whole PC), even with a 10% OC. They a decent brand, aimed more at the money concious consumer.

My mate got a Force3D 4870, works brilliantly. Even has a better cooler than the usual.
