A thought just crossed my mind while ordering my HD4850... at the moment im running a lousy 8600gt which consumes little under half the power of an HD4850 according to benchmarks.

I have a 480WW PSU which is adequate imo but what I really want to know is do mid/high end cards come with connectors for the 6-pin (ATX i think its called) power plug at the top of the card??

My PSU only has 1 of the connectors and thats powering my MOBO... am I going to need a new PSU just because I dont have the correct connections??

well... I think you can get converters which change the normal plugs(ones that convert the hdd, and cd drive power plugs) to the 6pin ones...

But best thing would be to get another psu. Maybe spend R500-R600 for a good 500watt(a good make)

I'd spend R750 on the Corsair VX450. The CoolerMaster eXtremePower series are slightly cheaper than that. Check Landmark Computers in CPT
