I'm looking for the best graphics card I can get for around R1500. Only found the HD7770 and GTX650. Budget may be flexible by small amount more. Any suggestions?

If necessary my build is below:

Intel i5 3330
Yama Titan 750W
4GB DDR3 1600MHz
Intel DB75EN Mobo
Raidmax Super Aeolus Chassis

i would recommend min amd phenom 4 core , any quad core from amd.

q8300 or better or i3 or better.

i3 2100 was just just enough for bf3 , cpu usage about 80%

I have a hd7770 on my quad core cpu and it plays everything I throw at it just fine, including battlefield 3 and the latest COD(I can max out most of the settings and still get decent framerates).

For the price I doubt you could go wrong with these AMD cards and the direct x 11.1 support means they will be more future proof than the gtx650.

I generally play TF2 and COD4 but I just like to get a decent graphics card in case I want to upgrade my COD game or try play battlefield. Last battlefield game I played was battlefield 2 :D

AMD bro, bf 4 looks insane, you would be crazy to stick with cod and avoid bf, you can play both. There is no reason to be a cod or bf player. You can be both :D. Cod generally needs like a p1 with maybe a riva tnt 32 meg but bf 4 requires some nice amd gpu power :D.

I would like to get rid of my ASUS 7850 for around R1900. Reason for selling is that I needed a Nvidia card and the CUDA drivers for molecular modeling. I got one and now I have this one is lying round doing nothing.

The 2GB is pretty good:

This is the 1GB version and IIRC it has a score of around 3300 when compared to the 3700 of the 2GB in the above chart.
A good bang for buck card as well:

im throwing everything at my 7950 and I must say...i'm quite impressed.

Go to carbonite.co.za You should be able to get a 7850 for that price range....I sold mine around there a few months back because I didn't need so much power and settled on a 7770 which is good enough for me.

Just read that the HD 8000 series is releasing later this year.

Would I get better prices if I waited for its release?

How long it will take for the cards to become cheaper then, and by how much?

Any way to tell from past experience perhaps?

Theres no point waiting for that, then you might as well go buy HD5770,it goes quite cheap and will run BF3 even.I believe it runs direct x 11.1 also if I'm not mistaken.
