Morning Guys.

I have not found another thread about this as of yet so ill post what I would like to know here.

I have 2x Asus 8800Gt cards in Sli (512mb) and an Asus p5N32 Sli Plus board with a Q6600 Cpu. I do not use both cards as I find the difference minimal for the problems that arrise with some games.

I would like to get an Asus GTX 295...
My questions are as follows

1. Is it worth it?
2. Will my Cpu handle it (Stock)

I do play a fair amount of games but mostly online and just need some edging on to go and get this things :D

So what do you think??

Put it this way. You will have see a big difference but not as big as it should be with that CPU. A q6600 is great but i'm afraid you'd need something more powerful to keep up with a GTX295.

To answer your questions:
1. No, You will probably get similar fps to a single gtx260 because your CPU will be holding you back a bit.
2. No

I'd sell the 2x 8800gt and get a HD4870 1gb / gtx260 216.

Thats what I was afraid of, THE CPU :O

Hmmm. Not a fan of ATI, Nvidia just does something for me. I know they are a little more expensive but ive never had any problems with them.

Perhaps ill overclock the Q6600.
Decisions decisions...

Why not. A Q6600 is a good overclocker.

Problem is I dnt really want to spend 15k on the thing. another CPU is not what I wanted to get. If I OC her to say around 2.8 would that be better?

Many people get it to 4GHZ easily. Just get a decent cooler.

But am i going to notice a significant increase in performance if I opt for that card as opposed to what I am running now. Or would I have to go for an i7 which means a new mobo as well?
Then im looking at 20k ?

Or the other option is OC the 6600 for the time?
Is it worth it...

An oced Q6600 will be good enough, get it to 3.4 or 3.6 and it shouldnt be too much of a bottleneck...especially in games that takes advantage of multi-thread processes (most of the new games from now.)

I see a few forums with it now.
Alot seem to be on the Q6600.
The I7's seem to be alright, above 30fps they reckon you do not notice it.
I was hoping to blow my card out the water but now it does not look that positive.
That is why I only run one card, sli gives too much K@K.

Haha, oh dear!

perhaps you could go AMD with a phenom 2? I heard these new phenoms are dam good @ gaming and the mobo prices will be a lot cheaper! here, read this: link it shows that the AMD phenom 2 x4 940 is up there with the intel core i7 940!

Not sure how they worked that out but i have the i920 and the x4 920 and from what i can see unfortunately the i7 kicks butt

Well it looks like this is where im heading.
I7 920
ASUS P6T-Deluxe OC Palm
Asus GTX 295
Vista ultimate 32bit
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750

I really don't want to spend that amount of money but it looks like the only way...

Haha.

AAAH!!!
You guys!!!

well id want it all by Wednesday otherwise the novelty will wear off haha.
20k for a Pc, its just not right haha.

And Id like to sell my pc as well...

That can't be real, I wish it were though.
